The problem with shredder is the existence of AP ammo. You go from 80% to 70% damage, but you get boosts against armor and synthetic health. If it wasn't for AP ammo shredder ammo would have a niche, but as it is right now why not just take AP ammo?

Maybe if shredder had some sort of CC effect like causing enemies to cringe in pain. Would give the non-inferno classes some organic CC ammo.

Thane is useless? What, the world ends if he doesn't have max Throw?

Give him max Warp, max passive and a sniper rifle. He needs nothing else.

Shredder Ammo is weaker than every other ammo power on every difficulty.  It really is impressively bad; though only so bad that it's a liability on Thane on Hardcore/Insanity.  For Shepard, Armor Piercing Ammo makes it completely obsolete, even on casual.

I don't buy the whole Fortification making Grunt invulnerable if it recharged 20% faster argument; it's probably just an oversight, and not a terribly important one.  Shredder Ammo's design is just sad, though.  It's easily the power most in need of a change, if such a thing is ever done.

QFT.

Also maybe I'm unobservant but I only caught Thane switching to his ammo power a few times - did not bother me me much since it's not that hard to click a squad ammo again. He works too well for my vanguard runs to ever be annoying for such trivial things.

Meh, if I'm playing a vanguard I just let him have his shredder ammo.

I'll activate squad cryo, use inferno for myself, and if I ever tell my squadmates to focus fire on someone, they'll kill faster with cryo+shredder.

Assuming, of course, that I even bother bringing thane .. he doesn't even see combat during his loyalty mission, so I rarely use him.

Take note BioWare.
Although i do still like shredder ammo on Thane i just make sure his is the last loyalty mission i do before the suicide run then with the combo of lvl3 warp, max passive, max shredder & sniper rifle. Thane totally annihilated the collectors for me.

I just tried out the reset squad points glitch on Jack. The power I tried it on was Warp Ammo, I had 6 points in the skill (rank 3) I did exactly what swk3000 said and got back the points from the 4th and 3rd rank but not the 2nd or 1st rank. What did I mess up on?

The only thing I can think of is that the game remembers that you put the points into the skill manually, so it's not giving them back because it's assuming that you wanted them there. Every time I've used this method to get rid of a skill, I did so on a skill that I hadn't put any points in at all. I don't know if that makes a difference, but it's the only thing I can think of.

So the skill you use the X+A trick doesn't have to be the skill you want changed? I don't understand how you get the skill to rank 3 for the trick without manually putting points into it.
