I installed my Mass Effect 1 on my new Windows 7 system with no apparent problem.  I've tried twice now, each time downloading Bring Down the Sky from the Mass Effect 1 site.  It seems to install okay, but when you go into the game, it's not there where it belongs on the galactic map.  When I go back to re-install the same download according to Windows 7 new guidelines, the download cancels and will not run again.
Like I said, I went back and downloaded it again and went through exactly the same frustrating scenario.

I didn't even try to download Pinnacle Station--that's one DLC that just doesn't cut it.  No loss to me there.  But Bring Down the Sky is a great one.  Not being able to load it really undercuts my ability to play through a decent Shepard career without it.

Any suggestions as to how to successfully install BDtS on Windows 7?  Image IPB

Thanks for your input, Zesban. So the bottom line is that if you've upgraded to Windows 7 and carefully re-installed your Mass Effect 1 game, the game will work, but, unless you're willing to possibly compromise your brand new Windows 7 registry, you're out of luck in terms of Bring Down the Sky. Thanks, Bioware. Surely a simple fix in a DLC patch for ME1 would keep your players running in Windows 7.

I installed it just fine on Windows 7 64 bit. And I didn't do anything special. For the key just used the same one I wrote down after I installed it the first time.

No problem Veritable Sage. Did you finally get it working on your machine?

No, Zesban, I didn't. I've worked too hard to get this system as sweet as it is to start playing around with the registry. I already have five Mass Effect 1 careers in the tank anyway.

Ah, just so you know this registry change isn't very dangerous. The disclaimer is in case you make a change other than the one described, on accident. Still if you don't feel comfortable editing the registry then don't. I might take a look a putting together a small litlle program to help with that part, just to make it easier...

I have a similar issue with Bring Down the Sky on Windows 7 64-bit. I installed it perfectly the first time, however an error message stated that a file was missing or something. So, I reinstalled ME1 and replaced the missing file and could play the game flawlessly.

When I tried to re-install BDtS the installation just cancels right after I enter the CD-key. It's so weird cause it worked the first time...

I might try zesban's solution later on, but yeah it feels like putting together a simple fix shouldn't be so hard for Bioware.

Hi Guys,

I wrote an app like I was saying. You find out how to get it at http://social.biowar...1/index/2041007

That way you don't have to mess with the Registry yourselves. Hope this helps!

Zesban,

I went to your link and they sent me an e-mail with a download link, but I couldn't activate it. Is there another language involved on the website? I do have most countries and all languages but English listed blocked. Could this have something to with my inability to activate the download?

It won't have anything to do with your ability to activate the download. It's a German and English site though. Try temporarily unblocking German sites and, if that doesn't work, PM me your email address and I'll send it to you directly.

BDtS worked for me on 64bit Win7. Steam version of ME1.
