I've been having trouble playing Dragon Age Origins and Awakening lately, but when me and my cousin unhooked our xbox from live to load up our game files and play awakenings it worked without a problem.
So if anyone is experiencing freezing at the same part over and over give this a try.
Possible Solution to those with Awakening (disc) problems

If you have downloaded any DLC you need to be connected to the internet to load your saves.

This is only true for people who don't understand how the DLC licensing works. With a little research it's an easy (if tedious) fix.
