Nikki ->

Yeah I created a City Elf rogue. This will be interesting. Never done the alienage origin before but this was actually very fun. Going to enjoy this I think.

Tlazol ->

I'll keep that in mind but I think I'll go for a "proper" rogue this time around ;)

---

Unrelated question. As a rogue, what sorta attributes do I want? I wonder, should I try to get as much dexterity as possible and mix some cunning in there, or would I want strength as well? What is recommendable?

Gah... I should have gone with rouge. I have a Human Noble (Warrior) and a Human in the Circle (Well I wonder what that could be?)

Im being a rouge after that.

Depends on your build, actually.

If you're using daggers, and assuming dex actually adds to damage like it's supposed to (I heard this was fixed, but haven't tested it myself), then having just enough strength for the armour you want is just fine.

You can get by with 16 strength for most of the game, I think. Make sure you plan to have enough dex for your talents (such as 35 dex for evasion at level 12), and you'll be fine.

Cunning adds to armour penetration and replaces strength for damage if you have the lethality talent, so your DPS is on par with the strength rogue. You're just a lot more fragile (at least until you get evasion).

Moderator error would be my guess.

the city elf origin is one of my favourite, especially the female version, you really really have a personal interest in hating humans with a vengeance

this is pretty much spot on.. although you can slowly increase cunning as you raise your skills, etc and concentrate on strength and dex

I believe the dagger dex bug was fixed as of 1.02, so that shouldn't be a problem anymore. 20 strength is required for the best light armour, and after that if you're going dual-daggers it's better to dump all your points in Dex (for Protection and damage) or Cunning with Lethality (for armour penetration and better rogue abilities & Persuasion).

When you're deciding whether to go for Dex or Cun, you should read up on these two threads for how the different builds relate to DPS and to other abilities. For example, if you have 35 cunning there is no need to get the 4th level of coercion, etc:

Ah, but you can get by with 20 modified strength.
'cos as a rogue, whom are you going to put those +2 to all stat items on but yourself?
Having 20 real strength is a waste ..

I kinda wish when I created the dwarf pictured I'd made him a noble, knowing what I know now of Gorim and his enthusiasm for the potent lyrium potion trade.  ^_^

Hmmm.  Now I'm telling myself I can always reroll and reinvent.  He was a noble all along!

Damn you, greed!  :P

Damn you, Dragon Age thread in Mass Effect 2 forum ...

I'm not going to load up DA:O, damnit ... *suspects this isn't a moderator mistake but a tricky cross-promotion stunt*

On the subject of the dwarf noble, though ... I was annoyed by how the origin took away my DLC items. I know there's a workaround, but did they ever fix that?

Glad to see my thread is alive and kicking still. I have taken my time reading through your input and I am very sattisfied. The more cookie-cutter details are difficult to comprehend and take my mind off playing the game and instead worry about mechanics - which, obviously, is something I don't want! This is not neverwinter nights ;).

I will probably swing around both swords and daggers depending on what I feel like and what gear I find. Then screw it if I am not the best. Who is there to compete with anyway? 'tis singleplayer :). Regardless, thanks for your ellaborate explanations, I just didn't understand it too well, and I am not asking for it to be ellaborated.

Yes, they fixed the dwarf noble so he will retain DLC items in his escape.  And yes, this is probably a tricky cross-promotion stunt.

(Though I'd buy the suggestion that a moderator, seeing that the thread was discussing [Dragon Age] Characters, classes and Builds, moved it into the Characters, classes and Builds forum.  Only the wrong game's. :unsure:)

Hee, I was wondering "am I in the right forum?". But hey, we're all Bioware fans here, amirite?

To be honest, I've played through four times, and enjoyed it each time. But rogue is my favourite, because you end up doing all the sneaking around ahead of the group. DW is very powerful in Origins, but I've just started Awakenings, decided "what the heck, I'll take my first character, even though she's an archer". Archers become ohmygod powerful in Awakenings-- I actually double checked my difficulty level, because I thought I'd dropped down to easy or some such.

Now I'm tempted to create a Jade Empire thread in the DA:O forums.

^ LOL! Why not, it might even end up here in the ME2 forums too.

On topic, if you want overpowered, try DW rogue - my wife's first character. Absolutely invincible. Hey all, let's do 300 damage in 1 sec!!!! Without activated abilities! Freakin' rogues...
