My last computer blew up (literally - lightning), and I just got my new computer in.  My new computer is a Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit OS, and I have a NVIDIA GTX 260 card (1) installed.

I updated all the video drivers, installed all the DA:O and Windows updates.

After the load screen, I hit 'Play' and BAM!  Blue screen of death memory dump -> reboot.

This is fairly consistent, I get the error at least 80% of the time.

Thinking that maybe there was something wrong, I uninstalled, and then reinstalled the game.  Unfortunately, this didn't change anything.

Are you on patch level 1.03, and with how much RAM? Seems like there are a lot of issues with 1.03 and Windows 7x64.

most generally a BSOD is caused by a hardware problem and not software there are several utilities that can monitor card and cpu temperatures hw monitor being one another utility is msi afterburner and version 1.5.0 comes with Kombustor which basically is a card heater another thing you might want to consider is power supply i think with the card you have you would need a bare miminum of 450w and that is on low end .But just off the top of my head i believe that video card alone would pull approx. 200w .These are just a few things you might want to check into

I am running a Corsair 850W powersource with a Gigabyte Ultra Durable 3 brand motherboard. I have noticed that the board drivers are W7 default, and am in process of loading now.

While waiting for the new computer to arrive, I did purchase DA:Awakening, and 1.03 is installed.

Updating the motherboard drivers away from default (and into my Gigabyte specific drivers) appears to have resolved the issue.

Well, it depends on what chipset is on your MB. You could go to the MB mfg website and get the chipset drivers, or go to the chipset mfg website and get the drivers. Whether they are nvidia, ati, or intel.

any fix for this I'm having the same problem

running:
quad-core black edition amd phenom II X4 965
ATI Radeon HD 5700
4 giga bytes of DDR3 ram
windows 7 Pro
also this is a liquid cooled system so no overheating would be involved

Have you tried setting affinity to Core 0? That solves a lot of AMD issues
