I'm now going back and forth between my Vanguard and Soldier, and decided to level up my squad manually. I wanted to upgrade them based of how I'm using them more then what the auto thinks I need. However, I really don't like how you can't restart to 0 with your squad members once they leveled up (unlike Shephard who, if you don't like the final upgrade build, you can go back and rebuild). So I'm wondering what everyone did with their squad and how they upgrade them? Example, are "area" upgrades better then "heavy" upgrades? If you're a soldier, should you even bother wasting upgrade points on your character's ammo abilities? Should you hold points back just to fully upgrade their bonus powers? etc.
Squad Level up advice?

Depends on what you want to do.
For instance, in the early game, Zaeed's inferno grenade is ridiculously awesome .. so I'll do his loyalty quest at level 9 or so. And save 9 SPs to max it out with.
Or Jacob, whom I consider a disposable character (I never use him late game), so early game I just make him put all but 1 of his points into (squad) incendiary ammo ..
Most loyalty powers aren't spectacular .. I'll make some exceptions for powers I really want, such as squad warp ammo or area reave.
