Didnt know about the iphone thing. With a game tho I beleive that your given the rights to use the software. That to me means I can use it anywhere I please. Atm tho they try to get in the way, and say I dont actually own a license to use the software, infact, im just renting it, and that they control the software, and can take it away as they wish.

What a bunch of corporate bolix. I own the disc, I have a right to whats on it, I can access it anywhere I want. I also believe that in most courts around the world, that would stand. Not in the US tho... 1 thing they just cannot understand is that US law does not = European law. The amount of times something from the US has violated the european unions trading standards and hasnt even been punished for it is staggering. All because the right people get their money.

Thats all my opinion ofc.

Take AC2 for instance, it was developed by Ubisoft Romania..wouldnt they fall into the European law?
Ive read somewhere, one of the many forums, that since owners of AC2 cannot connect to ubi servers, it somewhow violates a law govenering something or another dealing with satisfactory use.

I will not ever purchase any game from any company that uses any form of anti piracy that hurts the honest people buying the game. I for one am glad to see some people standing up against some of these issues . To many people in this day and age do and say nothing...and thats just like giving these companys a free pass to do what they want.

Yes, lets stand up against the people who want to get paid for their work instead of the peaple stealing the work.

If they can find some way to stop people from pirating that doesn't hurt the honest gamer then fine. But by no means should they be able to implement these DRMs . The only people hurt by it are honest gamers. Pirates have them cracked and are playing the games anyways .

The guy calls it "my hat is off to EA for giving the industry the brassiest teabagging it's had in years." and basically call the EA rep a lair and trying to whitewash the term DRM.
"Otherwise, who knows? After a couple of years of EA saying, "This is not DRM," maybe it won't be."

Gluttony is disgusting to look at.

I thought, again maybe way off target, the major ISP's were going to cap downloads to something like 2-3 gigs/month

with new pc games ranging from 6-15gigs that would stop most of the pirating...would it not?

It woud stop pirating.
It would also stop services like Netflix, Xbox Live, PS Network, video conferences, youtube, itunes, napster, MMOs, and various other legal outlets that will use up that limitation.

What DRM does Mass Effect 2 have anyways? Isn't it just a disc check and serial? Somehow I've been able to play the DLC offline too, cause I'm pretty sure I played the Firewalker missions offline.

Hey,

ME3 is still a long way off and no decisions regarding DRM have been made yet, nor would I expect them to get made for some time. That being said, the customer response to DRM used on past BioWare and other products will factor into that decision. If you have any doubts, just consider that the customer response to the DRM used on ME1 (PC) influenced the DRM decision on ME2 (PC).

If you wish to continue this discussion, there is already a thread in the Off Topic forum, here:
