I just finished my first playthough of Mass Effect and upon getting into the credits I noticed that I didn't get an achievement for finishing one playthough.

I checked my achievements in the menu and found that almost no applicable achiements had been awarded to me.  The only ones I've gotten are:

Distinguished Service Medal (Complete Eden Prime)
Spectre Inductee (Become a Spectre)
Medal of Heroism (Complete Feros)
Medal of Exploration (Land on an Uncharted World)

Anybody know of what could have caused this to happen?  Or should I just call tech support?

This is usually an issue with a corrupted MassEffectProfile.

You can add them yourself if you wish by following:

Note if you wish to solve this corruption by deleting the MassEffectProfile in your saves directory, you will lose all your achievements, but your saves will not be lost -- simply pick "Load Career" and then "All Careers" and pick your saves and the character names will reappear in your profile.

Hmm, I'll have to tinker with this a bit. I've never gone into the code of a game before.



I'll probably delete the MassEffectProfile if I can. When I play through the second time, are you saying that I'll be able to get achievements the real way?

One of my friends running Vista found it would never save his achievements. After he deleted his profile it recreated it on the next game start and he's been fine ever since. I'm 95% sure this is your problem. I can get him in here if needs be.



It appears a mangled profile file can cause all sorts of bizarre wizardry in ME1.
