You love to have a game which you cannot play unless you're always online for the duration of your playtime (on PC)?

Becouse that's Ubisoft right now.. I didn't bought "The Settlers 7" becouse of that.. even if the game flavored a bit better than the previous, it flavored almost like the 2 for me..

BioWare please keep with what are you doing now

Wot? Yer afraid of the costs fer yer dial up modem? If it helps vs. pirates I dont blame them. Better then some of the anti-pirate crap devs have used before.

I think it's Bioware and EA announcing they're getting a divorce, that they both love us very, very much, and it's not our fault. http://social.biowar...s/whistling.png

That's my theory and I'm sticking with it. http://social.biowar...cons/bandit.png

Bioware: "We're moving in with Ubisoft instead. Now, I know you have.. issues with Ubi, and that DRM thing, but we need you to be nice to them. For our sakes."

That's pretty terrifying actually.

I don't want Ubisoft as my step-dad. I heard he drinks and is abusive. http://social.biowar...cons/crying.png

I love Ubisoft so I 'm not going to talk about them. I also love BW........

Lads get your heads out of your asses no one is getting any divorce or any stupid stuff like that, that would no qualify as a community event wold it now. They are probably giving away free crap or are announcing a new game. A break up would be news but not a community event

Nope, I'm more afraid of the cost of cell-phone or airplane internet connection, since I often travel for work, and during that travel time Settlers was always a nice companion, well, you have the answer yourself.
Furthermore if my ISP should have some problems, or the server would have some offline for manteinance, I won't be able to play the game becouse of it.

There are several factors that really makes up as a BAD decision for a DRM, which constrains the user, instead of making his life easier.

I respectfully disagree.

It's impossible to make something 100% pirate-proof just like it's impossible to make something 100% idiotproof and developers shouldn't try to achieve the impossible - they'll waste more money and ****** off more customers than it gains them.

There's a certain amount of copyright protection that I'm willing to put up with - disc checks, one-time online activation, game registration to access patches, DLC, etc - but a continuous online connection, that's way beyond my idea of reasonable anti-piracy measures. The only games I'm willing to put up with such measures for are games that are actually played ONLINE. For any other game it's an instant non-buy for me.

The best of it all is that due to Ubisoft's crappy implementation of this new constant-online DRM system, you'll get kicked out of the game at the merest hiccup in your internet connection and be forced to restart from the last save point. Apparently it was too much effort to take a few notes from online game developers on how to handle connection instability...

But it was just pick up these 20 dog tags while a synth whines away in the background. Hardly challenging. Although I will admit it was pretty. Just not pretty cool.
