I am having a blast playing as a dwarf, it is really up to you and you should explore what character you want to play. Each race and class has it's own unique story line in the begining.

Rogues. To get full potential you need to backstab, which is more likely to happen if you control your rogue most of the time (you need to position them behind enemies). Also less hassle when picking locks and pockets.

I'm having a blast with my dalish elf rogue...my brother loves his mage. It's really up to your style of play.

Hi

Thanks for your replies, the game has just about finished installing. I have always went down the warrior route, i think i will explore another type for the start anyway.

Do all the origins, 2 hours per, and try them all out, I have found they all havemerit and there are several builds per class, so much replay value. Trying each origin will help you find your most enjoyable class/race etc.imo

To start a new character, do you have to restart the game?

Aye, you need to start all over again, a new origin if you will.

My current character (and first!) is a City Elf Warrior, 2 Handed Sword user and I love it! She kicks ass swinging that bad boy around.

So far I've played two character classes. A Dalish Elf, Mage and a City Elf, Warrior. I've had the most fun with the Warrior - who is a tank. Its made the game way easy even on the Nightmare difficulty. As I don't have to realy worry weather or not a NPC will hold threat.

I love the Mage as well but like I said, worrying about NPC's holding threat while huge damage spells are going off have made the game way more difficult. But enjoyable none the less.

Its all on how you want to play it really. Try em' all out.

So if you create a charachter with the creator you download separatly, then can you add them to your party? Or are they only for new game starts?

Those made using the Character Creator are only for new games. It is basically the character creation part of the full game.
