Okay, I will, Drake Sigar. See, wasn't that easy? I really like what I'm seeing, and Amazon.de has it for 6.00 euros and up.

I do hope that Awakenings will soon start dropping in price to the point where I am willing to purchase it. I do not hate the game, not at all, but I'm adhering to my personal, individual standards as far as product and pricing is concerned.

Eh? Bloodlines is on D2D and Steam, not sure how much easier it can get to find than that.

@Sabriana, if you can stomach the fixed 800x600 resolution, disturbingly bad graphics, and the Point and Click style, do get The Longest Journey. Arguably the greatest story ever told in a video game and I believe it's only $5 on Good Old Games.

Oh right, I meant boxed copies are rare. For some reason my mind didn't even register Steam, which is probably something to do with my deep hatred for digital distribution. Posted Image

And I must start remembering not everyone who buy games actually collects them on their gluttonous shelf space.

Re.: Bloodlines, yeh, I know about the digital dl's, but I like to have a disk. I'm weird that way, MadCat. :)

I don't mind the graphics, judging from the movies and screenies on the official site, it's not that bad. I also don't mind the point and click, and I'm definitely a story-player. Dreamfall, which is a sequel to The longest journey doesn't look too bad either, but I haven't looked into it too deeply yet.

Hmmm I played Bloodlines, still have it..good old Direct-to-Drive..eventually things get priced down.   Didn't know there were patches for it...was pretty buggy when I played it.  I may try it again. :)   As for Longest Journey, thats a Funcom title...played a bit of it..may try that again too, just for a change of pace.

Ah, you're one of them antique collectors I sometimes hear about. Well, enjoy your fancy little coasters that magicly disappear or scratch like they did me with all them years ago. ;)

Hehe, Drake thinks it's hard to find a boxed Bloodlines copy he should try finding a boxed copy of TLJ that doesn't cost your left leg and first born child. Unless you are really, really, adamant about getting the boxed suck in your principles for a second and just pick it up on GoG, your wallet will thank you plus it'll work with the new operating systems, I'm not sure of the old box copies will run on a Vista/Win7 PC.

As for Dreamfall, a good game though they tried to make it a bit more mainstream and gameplay wise it fell flat. Graphicly it's not to bad, but some weird combat system thing that has no business being there really drags it down. The story itself though is solid, though  I wouldn't play it before you pick up TLJ.  And I'll rephrase my previous statement, get Longest Journey whether you can stomach the graphics or not. It's one of those games anyone who enjoys a good story needs to play.

Yeah, it's Funcom. Norway ftw ;). They do offer a variation that is officially compatible with windows xp. I love the price for both, and will be able to buy them both (or all three, depending on whether I'll decide to go for Dreamfall as well).

That's another reason I don't pre-order. Games usually stay available for a long, long time, and with the advent of Digital dl, they most likely will be around even longer. I have no problem waiting for better offers, I'll happily pop BG (any one of them) back in, and replay. Or Morrowind. Or FO & FO2.

The only game I really ever bought right when it hit the stores was DA:O. And I have no regrets about doing that. It was my personal treat, and I squeezed a lot of hours out of it. As a matter of fact, I'm still playing it.

Edit:

The longest Journey and Dreamfall are offered at Amazon.de for 19.99 euros and is for windows xp. Which is what my laptop operates under. It's not that bad. So for 27ish euros, I would be able to buy 3 pretty good games.
Thanks for the patch-link, MadCat. Bookmarked.

I think ill be pre ordering very happy so far content wise, would be nice to see some bug fixing patchs for the minor grips.

DAA im assuming is not the main dev team & the reason we dont have the origins chars is there all busy making DAO-2.

The amount of nonsence being posted about DAA got my expectations so low its been totaly awsome, still is bad for people that look to the forums before buying & then maybe didnt buy it & miss out on some awsome new game play e.g running the keep. Day in court ect was a realy nice touch imo.

Still I do expect alot from DA-2 & realy hope they get more use out of zones & not close off things at the end.

Found 3 brand new copies for under £5 each. What do I win? Posted Image

You want hard, try Wing Commander. You'll have to sell your house.

How bout a $500 Steam shopping spree, wait that's right you dont use Steam. How bout some free coasters. ;)

Yeah I've seen Wing Commander, insane. The thing with TLJ is when I looked around for a copy after mine broke a few years back they were all on Amazon, Ebay, ect. for around $80-$100. Since it's moved to DD I guess it's forced people to drag down the prices a lot. Yet another benefit of DD, knocking down the INSANE prices of those ancient games.

Awakenings if the first thing I have ever pre-ordered. Timing was great, landed the same day that I finished a DAO playthrough. Still playing and I really like it. Only one disappointment concerning carry over story, but I feel as if I had good value.

Yeah, I might pre-order again

I will wait and see how people review a new expansion for wither DAO or ME2 before I purchase a new one again. Bioware has been a bit of a disappointment lately with their DLC'S and expansions. As far as full games for for example DAO2 or ME3 I will pre-order those when they become available. One thing Bioware does seem to get right for the most part are the full games.

Gotta admire the blind faith....but I'd never buy a car without a test drive first, and likewise with games, I'll never part with my shinies before seeing a wealth of screenshots, gameplay vid and a review or two first;)

I bought a car without a test drive once...

It was the best car ive ever driven...

Until my drunk friend thought it'd be funny to steal my keys and drive it into a lake...

I can't remember the name of the car either...

But id probably just buy Bioware games. I just read the back of the box writing, and look at the screenies.

I like the expansion so far. Is it on par with DA:O? No. And they certainly were forced (or chose) to shorten the alpha/beta test cycle way way to much. DA:O (other then the online stuff like this website) worked perfect and never crashed. I usually crash every few hours with awakening.

The DLC was pretty weak. Shale and that quest was pretty awesome but the rest felt like cheap tricks to part people from their money. I have to say most DLC feels like a rip off now days.

No pre-order, no buy.

- Waaay too little carry forward from main game to sequel.  A lot of us 'invested' time into getting a set of outcomes, only to see it all swept away in the 'expansion' (bar a 10 second cameo from whoever) and a one liner in the end slide.
- Depressing epilogues.  C'mmon Bioware, this is a game - I buy it to feel good.  The Warden goes AWOL, seen once with Leliana in Denerim?  wtf?
- Party dialogue in Awakening 2-dimensional.
- Bugs (Awakening).
- Balance issues - this game doesn't work  >lvl20.  Devs should re-work it until nightmare solo rogue is impossible - ie lose health faster than all pot cooldowns.  But keep normal easy for those that want it.
- DLC gear *must* carry forward.
- Good gear and gold should drop like in Awakening.

Pity - I thought we were on to a timeless classic with DA:O.

Not preordering, probably not purchasing. Awakenings was a let down especially since there was no pre-order bonus and the game doesn't add to the original game.

I'd pre-order the next 3 expansions if they gave me advance notice of their release. Awakening was incredibly fun. Origins was better and had more content (despite fewer classes and spells) but I was happy enough with Awakening. As for the lack of romance... well... since this is a "NO SPOILERS" board I can't mention anything but I'll say I was happy how they handled mentioning my one from Origins within the game.

The bonuses always suck anyways.

I might have approached Awakening differently if I was designing it but the game was a reasonable approach to an expansion. They tried out some news things (conversation system and spells/powers) but kept the core gameplay intact. I'm gonna hit 20 hours of play in it so I think it was a good value vis a vis what a typical game gets me.

Was it perfect, no but it was a good experience.

Will not buy until I have confirmation that what happens in the US ending isn't just retconned in that game/expansion as well.
