I just loaded up Dragon Age, and it behaved as though it had never run before, and my saved games are gone. Is there anywhere they would be stored other than my documents/bioware? are they stored in some special way? Is the patch deleting saved games?

Ditto! I downloaded and installed the patch last night. Even played (successfully) for a few hours. Shut down my computer (normally, no issues). Powered it up to play today and now it acts like there are no saved games. Like I never played.
On top of that, every time I start, it brings up the configuration utility! WTF is going on? I had 30 hours or so wrapped up in this game. Now I cant even find the saved game files!!!

I just encountered this very same problem! Has there been any word on this? I know something similar happens on xbox 360. What about for PC? I can't find an explanation or help.
