So when the patch first came out it appeared some people were unable to play the game after installing the patch.  So the question I had is if people know whether this problem has been fixed and those that were having this problem are good or if there is still a potential issue with this patch?

I would love to update my game but not if it's going to make it unplayable.

EDIT: Hmm, so right after I make this topic I see a topic get bumped where people are still having this issue.  Guess the answer is that the problem hasn't been fixed by Bioware yet.  Glad I found out beforehand.

Disregard this topic I suppose :P

Don't use it until they introduce a new patch that clearly states they sorted the issues that came with 1.01 (and 1.01a), I can't imagine it'll take longer than a day or two anyway.

Isn't there a way for them to block people from trying to install this patch or at the least they should put out some type of stickie or message warning people not to d/l it?

Seems to be happening to quite a few peeps. At least enough that I think Bioware should take steps to ensure no one else ends up like this until they're able to fix the problem.

I imagine they're just intending to push out a new patch that fixes it ASAP rather than put effort into what you described, remember that people only ever post on the forums when things go wrong, in other words, although it may look like this problem is super wide spread, in terms of the actual DA:O population it's probably quite miniscule.

It's Valve's policy on Steam that stuff autoupdates anyway, so that's not really BioWare's fault.

They really need to separate the forums according platform use.

Console (with sub sections that are console specific) and PC. As well the direct download (steam, D2D etc) seem to have more problems.

To be quite blunt--had no problem with any DLC, the patch, registering the game, save or what ever on my PC platform. The game is working flawlessly except for the increasing load times after many hrs of continuous play. A quick restart of the gamesolves that.

Bibbel, make sure your Windows Update has been running and, therefore, completely up-to-date.

If you are your Windows would have the latest C++ runtime libraries which would allow you to run Dragon Age 1.01.

Here's the manual download you can try: http://www.microsoft...&displaylang=en

Download and install the vcredist_x86.exe package

If your C++ library is too out-of-date however it may not solve the problem but it's worth a try.
