So, i was kind of thinking about this idea that i just thought of. You know how shepard always goes and visits his/her squadmates and friends and tries to work up some conversations? What if the squadmates that are closest to you (such as your love interests or your closest friends) come up to your cabin to visit you, kind of like random events?

I know that you could already invite your LI to your cabin after the suicide mission, but basically nothing happens, no dialouge, just you bouncing up and down on their lap and cuddling them. What if in future expansions or in Mass Effect 3 your squadmates that you are closest too would randomely come up to your cabin to visit you and strike up some conversations?

I wouldn't mind that, but it is hard to do random on a computer. In fact, it's impossible. So what would intigate a visit?

Alright, maybe not completely random, but like maybe after some certain events.

Grunt would break all my ship models, Tali would overclock my clock, Garrus would calibrate the damned door, Thane would cry on stuff and Samara might mistake me for family and murder me in my sleep. Entry by invitation only!

It's a cool idea, but most people don't go in the captain's cabin very often unless they need to change their armor. I feel like many of those scenes would just get missed.

perhaps like DA, you know those random times you'd head to camp and a party member would ambush you with dialogue... As soon as you load the cabin.. cutscene starts of party member walking up, and convo starts...

i'd be worried that Garrus would waltz in while i was flogging the dolphin. Would be awkard, and I don't think its appropriate for subordinate crew mates to "wander into teh captains quarters".

I like it! I think it's a great idea. It would be so refreshing.

And for those who don't visit the cabin often, it could just be a cutscene that triggers as soon as you go back to the Normandy.

Only if there is worthwhile dialogue to be had. Although I find it funny the image of a squad mate standing there staring directly into the squad mate and only saying "Hey Shepard" when clicked.

Why are you flogging the dolphin on a ship full of love interests? You should be more worried he'll walk in on you with one of them.

And anyway, I picture a little door chime thing like in Star Trek NG.

Shepard: Hey Zaeed, what are you doing in my bathroom?

Zaeed: Being a goddamn hero.

Shepard: Tali, why are you in my bed?

Tali: AM I NOT HINTING ENOUGH THAT I CAN BE A ROMANCE OPTION?

Grunt: Shepard.

Shepard: I have to go.

Shepard: Hey Jack.

Jack: I WANT TO KILL EVERYTHING, **** IT ALL.

<she throws a singularity at the bathroom, sucking everything in it>

Zaeed: Rage is a hell of an afrodisiac.

Shepard: Hey Garrus, why is everybody in my room?

Garrus: Can it wait? I'm in the middle of some calibrations.

I keep imagining Garrus just standing there looking at the fish tank and not saying anything.

That would be awkward, Shepard is sleeping with Garrus and Garrus walks in on them.

I knew Garrus had an evil twin.

I dunno it might create afew awkward situations:

FemShep: ''Jesus Zaeed, don't you knock?''

Zaeed: "I was just waxing goddamn nostalgic."

FemShep: "Well wax it somewhere else, i'm trying to get changed here."

Although I would've liked some encounters on other areas of the Normandy - for example Jack and Tali speaking to each other as Shepard heads into the Engine Room, Thane and Samara debating morality in the Observation Deck, or Jacob and Mordin discussing tech and weapon upgrades, instead of everybody ignoring each other dispite living in such close proximity.

Well, they first have to knock on your door, and then you invite them. I don't think shepard would like it if random people kept barging in her room without her consent. This is what it would be like,

It would go to a cutscene of shepard checking his/her mail, sitting down on the couch, lying down on the bed and etc., the door would ring and ________ asks if he/she can come in, you decide whether to invite them in or not. If you invite them in  the convos start.

Holy crap on a stick, redloz. You, my boy, are on to something, imagine what it would be like if the crew moved around the ship, like to the mess for food and sh!t. I am damned tired of Samara staying welded to the floor in observation, and if Zaeed reclines against that wall much longer it's gonna give out. I SWEAR TO F**KING GOD IF GARRUS DOESN'T STOP F**KING WITH THOSE GUNS...

Of course that would lead to the inevitable collision of four crew members in the hall that crashed the AI and they all just stand there and say "Excuse me" and "No no, After you" for an hour.

Paragon option: Let me get the door.
Neutral: Come in.
Renegade: Go away, I'm watching fornax.

I would think at least Miranda might try to visit you in your quarters, being second in command - or at least summon you on com more often or something to talk about crew issues... like "Chakwas and Mordin are competing for the MRI machine, Shepard, and it looks like it might get ugly..."

I really wouldn't have minded if she'd challenged me more on how a "proper" Cerberus ship should be run. I would've liked arguing with her and putting my foot down. She's obviously used to command. So am I.

It would give me more reason to go to the cabin. I love the cabin too, it's pretty cool ... just no reason to go there really.

Indeed, if anything it should've been part of the main deck instead of being in a seperate part of the ship. The loading screen is probably what kills it for me.

Exactly right? If your going to put that much detail in the captain's cabin at least give it some importance of some sort.

Don't forget to feed your fish while you're there.

Never mind, they're dead.

Kelly said she'd feed them, I agreed.

I return to the cabin and they were dead.
