This probably has been debated over and over again on the forums but I'd really like to have a good estimate of her age.

Her character is very confusing over the matter of her age, Her character's personality and emotions almost seem very young in her 20s but her life's story of her bard life and the chantry leads me to believe shes in her 30s or shall I even say 40s?

A conversation she has with Wynne also brings up her age, Wynne complimenting her about her looks, and then Leliana saying she looks younger then she appears. So it is a real mystery on her age? We have a guesstimate around 20-40 years old.

We may never know when she fully started her bard life with Marjolaine but I have a feeling it was extremely close to the time her mother died which she could've been around 12-15 years old?. Almost as if adopting Marjolaine as either a sister or Mother figure to replace her mom. Her Bard life lasting around maybe around 5 years or maybe even a decade. Then her Chantry part of her life could be again 5 - 10 years long. Meaning the youngest should could be when she meets our Warden to be around 22-25 which is probably not the truth.

So the highest probability would be around Late 20s to Early 30s. In some ways I hope they would come out with a novel just on Leliana's life prior to DAO. But that would also cut the mystery of her away.

The simple answer would be shes as old as the model she is based on Alexandria Stein (AKA AlleyKatze) who is 22. Which I would hope would be the case for my warden's story seeing as the cousland story seems to aim them around 19-25 years old.

There was alist somewhere on the forum with all the companions estimated age. I think Leli's was around 29-31.. Not sure though since I havn't seen that post since pre-release.

She's younger than 30 for sure. She says her mother's employer left Ferelden 30 years prior, and Leliana was born in Orlais.

She is in fact 30 years old, although the light from the campfire doesn't do her any favors. How do I know this? I romance her a lot and she has finally come to trust me enough through my many incarnations to tell me her true age. She tells Wynn that she is 24!



Seriously, she is somewhere around 30 but there is no information to confirm this. Why would you need to pin it down? Are you going to take her home to mother and you are actually in your early 20s? haha

I was thinking late 20's.

I tend to base everything on the voice actor. Because you can always make a design that matches the voice actor.

Wynne "sounds" like she is older.
Leliana "sounds" like she could pass from 20 to mid 30's...so you could design her in that age range.


Now on the other hand...Sigrun sounds like she's in her 20's.....and her mannerism seems very young and playful..but her face makes her look as if she is in her late 30's or more....eh....in dwarvish years.

I'd say 30-ish. She looks/sounds like she is in her 20's, however, in a side conversation with Wynn, she declares she's older than she appears.

She looks about as old as I did when I was 30 (I always looked young for my age) so I'd suggest she's around that. As for the smoking, well, I did in my 20s but quit at 29 to avoid getting a mouth like a cat's bum. Seems to have done the trick.

The toolset says she's 26, which, while not a perfect way to go by (some ages there are outdated - there is no way Alistair is 32), I'd say it's a good estimate for her: 26-29 years old.

There is no way she's older than 29 (Maybe 30, but it's pushing timelines if she is). I say this because Leliana mentions her mother worked for Lady Cecile while the noble was still in occupied Ferelden. When the Orelsian occupiers were uprooted, she returned to Orlais, and Leliana's mother followed. This was 30 years prior to Origins.

Then, Leliana was born in Orlais - she says this too. She doesn't mention if her mother was already pregnant with her or not when she left Ferelden, but seeing as women far along in their pregnancies would hardly be able to safely make the trek from Ferelden to Orlais, I think it's a safe bet Leliana's mother was either not yet pregnant with her, or was early enough along that she could travel.

This means Leliana was likely born closer to a year after the Orlesians left Ferelden, at earliest. Thus making her oldest possible age 29. (Yes, I have given this a lot of thought/analysis. )

No, not around the time her mother died. Leliana said she barely remembered anything about her mother, save for her smell (Andraste's Grace) and some of the stories she told. She was likely barely more than a few years old when her mother died.

However, 12-15(16) is a good estimate for when Marjolaine started training her, since the skills Leliana has would take several years to hone, and a perfect age for Leliana to easily idealize Marjolaine as she did. Personally, since Leliana mentions Cecile was old even when she was a little girl, I suspect the noble woman died by the time Leliana was a teenager, and Marjolaine probably took her in around that time, whenever it was. That bit is pure speculation on my part, though.

I smoke like a chimpanzee (I'm a guy though) and i'm 30 years old .. Yet they still sometime ask for my ID lol (When i'm shaved)


But anyway .. back on topic!! Big estimation .. Leliana seem to be around 27-34 Years old.She certaintly not a very
young adullt (18-25) . She seem to be in the best of adult age.So probably around 30  .

She seem younger than Morrigan .. But she might be older.

You make some real good points, Dalish Ranger. Ok. I am changing my opinion from 30 to 29. Standing next to that campfire really doesn't do her looks any good. She does look a lot younger in the Denerim sunlight than at camp.

Remember too that in our real medieval era, people were considered adults around age 14, were bearing arms, married with children, holding titles etc long before they were twenty and considered downright 'old' at 40.

So Leliana, based on her life experiences and so on and the early age at which she got started, is very likely in her mid-20's- an experienced 'older woman' to a young Aedan Cousland.

Aeden as he's written, the younger son of the Teryn of Highever, could easily be as young as 16 but in more likelihood (to be mature, strong, and experienced enough to catch Duncan's eye as a recruit) is probably no older than 19-20. I like to think of him as generally 18-20.
