Brian, you mentioned that Bioware was unable to release the max script used to export/import models.. Is it too much to hope that you guys are going to release both male and female base models in *.max format for download (perhaps on here or on the wiki), similar to how Epic did for UT3 -- With bones intact.

Also where can the information on what the import/export script be foound? On the wiki?

Amusingly enough I want a "more masculine" mod if you will. I found I couldn't make my female character 'hard' enough. Her breasts are far too large for my tastes. Should be a slider or option of some sort. They need to be so much smaller. Just though I'd throw my thoughts in.

I figured they must've shared a skeleton. The shoulder:hip ratio is weird, as is the shared animations. It would also explain the dwarfs -- from the waist up they have human proportions,

Why not just switch the heads then if you want a female head on a male body? Although even muscular women still retain somewhat of a feminine shape, their shoulders will never be quite a broad as a males, and their hips wont be as meaty as a males, but they will still show a definite wideness than a males.

I agree though, they should have make body sliders, that would have been nice... but the game engine they use is kinda old.

There also seems to be this conception that the problem with the female bodies lies with there being too much muscle or them not being slim enough. Both of these are untrue, they certainly aren't too thick and their muscle definition is fine, however, proportionally, they are off. Their shoulders are too broad and their hips too narrow, that's not to say they should look like Jessica Rabbit, but I would imagine their ratio of shoulders to hips falls outside of the norm, which makes them look a good bit more manly than an average woman, let alone an idealized one.

The female proportions seem to be quite close to what a real average female is like. That people complain about shoulder/hip ratio is more of commentary on how out of touch with reality we are and how the media warp out expectations. Funnily enough the examples of "better women" in this thread like the Brurpo's mod seem to have proportions that aren't really different -- check screenshots at http://www.jeuxvideo...age-28971-1.php for example.

For "ideal" human proportions, some useful reference drawings can be found here: http://www.idrawdigi...and-proportion/

All this talk about the female form... I'm confused, I know a lot of female, and (as unbelievable as it may be), I have one that regularly allows me to regularly view her without clothes. in fact, I am permitted to touch her in this state, it's quite exhilarating, and educational, and she's not the first (I know, odd isn't it?)

What I've learned about the female form is that, well, there really isn't one. There's many. And they vary wildly, even if we stay within what we might call the "athletic" or "slender" category that is probably what most of the community would prefer (as opposed to the rap video and Lohan Before-and-After-Meth body types).

Perhaps the DA female bodies are a tad muscular, broad in the shoulders and without much of an hourglass going on, but does it not make sense that a woman who spends her days treking across the width and breadth of a kingdom, battling bandits and dark spawn on a daily basis, might, indeed, be just a tad mscular?

I just don't like the breasts. They were built for massive side boob but they just don't look right. And the bodies generally just look like they're slumped over slightly. Just being a woman in that game seems really uncomfortable. Not saying "Jessica Rabbit" as posters before me have said but, I dno as girl I feel really uncomfortable when I see those breasts.

Yes thank you for that... excuse me if I dont like censorship. >.>

If the developers did not put it in the game, its not censorship!  An example of censorship would be "The Witcher" where it was in the game, but removed for the US release. They choose not to have nudity, deal with it. As for the female modeling, its just fine. I look more for game play rather than the fact that one charcters model is not what I would have done. If you dont like it make your own game and do it your way. Then you can read threw all the posts about how you did it wrong.

What's that suppose to mean? Are you against requests in general? I think  a discussion about what kind of  toolset-modding one would like can only stimulate imagination and give people new ideas.

I certainly agree with the OP that new models would enchance the gaming experience. Both Morrowind and Oblivion had some amazing mods, that greatly altered both the visuals of the game and gameplay. If the DA toolset can bring about some of the modding-productivity of thoose two games I would be really thrilled.

In other news I heard you can find pictures of real naked people on the internet.

whats with your crusade against a nude mod? I used one in oblivion cause it made the body look amazing with armor on. And allowed me to use alot more armor mods that required you to have it. I agree that the body needs to be redone. http://www.fileplane...ment--BABE--mod is what it needs to look like IMO. I guarantee you 95% of the people who want one dotn want to ****** to it bro.

Um... I like your optomistic faith in humanity there DSW, but don't you think your non faping people estimite might just be a tad bit high there?  There's alot o collage age kids buyin this game, and not all of em are gonna be wanting a 'nude mod' so that the armor will look amazing... I'm just sayin....

:-P

I think you will find that this game is an 18 rated game, anybody not old enough to play this game is not our concern, they shouldnt be on here or playing full stop. And as the op said NOBODY is making anyone download or use such a mod if it was made.To many people on here trying to force there views on others,if you dont like the idea fair enough but dont go around telling others there wrong, there not they just have different views to you.

My biggest problem with the females is that they suffer from pinhead syndrome most of the time (depending what they're wearing). The heads are quite simply not proportioned properly for the bodies. I don't mind the overall shape and muscularity, and I can tolerate the funky breasts, but the linebacker shoulders and tiny heads are just distracting.

What's worse, though, is how the body changes shape depending on what you're wearing. My slim little elf mage looks petite and cute in mage robes, and as soon as she puts on a chantry robe (for instance) she suddenly gains four bust sizes.

This has been a glaring problem in all Bio games since Jade Empire (Jade being the worst offender). I seem to remember females being much better proportioned in KOTOR though.

I would honestly be more happy if the females(minus dorfs) have a bit more womanly curve to their hips(and a more realistic back curve o.O). And maybe a slightly smaller shoulder frame?(including dorfs now)

But you know what, if someone figures out how to do this and posts a step by step guide, I'll prolly do em myself!

As far as the Armour scale is concerned, I find that it is, for the most part, generally fine. However, in the fact that fantasy armour is usualy conforming to the female/male body, I'm going to take a step in the other direction and suggest that maybe BioWare was workin' on a more, realistic approach to the armour?

As far as the male looking female bodies, I didn't really notice the female body looking masculane (spelling?). When I was playing my male character on a second playthough, I noticed that his body and shoulders were much broader then Morrigans... errr... the females.

I have, however noticed, that BioWare likes to use the same art for all bodies. By this, I mean the clothes and armour are not simply, placed onto the character, but it is a model. If you place a robe on your female character, and then all of a sudden she increases inbust size, it is because the robe was modeled with the bust.

I do know, that with some extreme effort, and more time, they could have worked on those things. But hey, since this game can be modded in such ways, perhaps one day Bio will make an official patch to correct these things. Now, wouldn't that be nice :)

I thought the elves looked fine myself.  (Also, Elves are most certainly smaller, just open the character creator and swap between the elves.  Atleast looking at the females, the human is much larger)

Lore wise elves are supposed to have a slightly slimmer build than humans, but are at least the same height, usually slightly taller.

He never said anything to warrant that response.  He stated the truth: if it's how the game was from the start, then it's not censorship.  If anything, you yourself are coming off as an "opinionated prat," especially with how you're generalizing Americans as a whole as sex-hating, violence-loving bigots.

Pot, kettle, black.

Pretty sure the masculine build is to accommodate heavy armor. Probably didn't have to be designed that way (plenty of MMOs for example that don't have broad shouldered females while accommodating heavy armor), but oh well. Taking a quick gander at the toolset, and it seems to me that it would require not just modifying the models (if even possible), but also every individual piece of armor.

Best bet is to just play an elf woman, as their broad shoulderness isn't quite so bad. :P

Of far more concern, to me, is the neanderthal-like crouch characters do when in combat. It's not that bad on the male models, but looks absolutely ridiculous on the female ones. Seriously, try emulating that crouching combat movement the female models do in game.....in real life. Hilarity and embarrassment ensues!

Considering how solid animations were in Mass Effect, it's obvious SOMEONE at Bioware is competent at animations. They apparently weren't involved in this game though. :P Still, great game, if ugly-as-sin female animations. :)

I think the female bodies are looking creepy as if they girls are suffering from anorexia.

If they would get thinner they would look like a stickman.

My thing with the female models is the shoulders are broad, and the female walking animation is absolutely TERRIBLE.

When females walk, they look like they're wading through mud or something.

Also, dwarf females look like orangutans. I want a mod to fix that more than ANYTHING. That stuff creeps me out.

Ugh, I know. The cutscene female walk is terrible. It looks like my PC is trying desperately to walk like a man, and failing.

As a petite girl I just wish we had a smaller, more girly body. Maybe like 3 options for each race. Or even two! I just wear the mage clothes whenever I'm not in combat. ^.^ The cute ones with the thigh-highs, not the circle bewbies.

If these women are fighters and in combat regularly then they would have sharper abs and fewer curves. I don't really understand this bige fuss.
