Nice fix, helped clarify some of the problems I'm having, but unfortunately I'm having more issues on top of this one.

While I can use this to get past the key input, it then sits on Validating Licence File and then kills the installer with a Failed to Install screen, wiping the BDtS key from registry and deleting the %\\\\Mass Effect\\\\DLC folder on the way out.

I can actually get the DLC to install successfully by killing the datupdater.exe process which runs while it's "Validating Licence File". Unfortunately while the installer reports a successful install, and the configuration screen shows BDtS installed with it's reg key, the ingame settings->downloaded content and new character creation insists that it is not installed.

It's 12pm now, which means I've been at this around 12 hours straight. Extremely frustrated, and any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried downloading another copy of the installer? The one you're using may be corrupt.

Also, is this for the North American  retail version? I'm having trouble recalling where in the install process it validates a license file after entering the CD Key. Keep in the mind the process I've documented and developed this fix for is only for the North American retail version of the game.

If you're using a Digital Download copy or a copy from another region I can't garauntee this is all you will have to do to get your Bring Down the Sky module installed and working correctly. (I'm going to add that to the intitial post.)Let me know what you find out, it'd probably help someone else out too.

Hier habe ich ein Upgrade auf Windows 7 in letzter Zeit und bam!

"Installation abgebrochen"

Jedes Mal, wenn ich meine Schlüssel und versucht zu installieren. Bioware, was ist passiert?

Ok, stellt sich heraus, dass mit recht wenig Forschung in den Foren und einige Intuition, bekomme ich in die richtige Richtung gehen. Offenbar, wenn Sie die Bring Down the Sky Key es aufgebraucht ist. Doch anders als mit dem Patch 1.02 für Mass Effect, es gibt keinen Weg zum "Nichtbenutzung" der Schlüssel wie Deinstallation oder Abmeldung einer Maschine oder was auch immer.

Hier ist, wie ich es gelöst:

14. Im Task-Manager Klicken Sie auf die Registerkarte Prozesse.

15. Suchen Sie den Prozess mit einem ähnlichen Namen Down the Sky Code.exe bringen. Es kann je Ihrer Windows-Version. Wählen Sie den Prozess und klicken Sie auf Prozess beenden. Dies sollte in der Nähe der Key Eintrag Fenster und kehren Sie zum Installer-Fenster. Wenn nicht, schließen Sie das Installationsprogramm starten es erneut, und versuchen Sie diese wieder.

I recently had to format the PC and reinstall everything again.  After failing to install BTDS I scour the internet.  Finally came across this thread you started.

Great work Zes, you literally saved me weeks of hardwork and frustration.  I can't thank you enough for this!

Worked for me, only the key didn't show up in setup. I killed the process and then it asked for the key in a different-looking window. Pasted in there (no dashes) and it installed. Maybe I did the registry thing wrong? Anyway, worked, many thanks. Very clever too.

I have Polish CD but installed English version. I can't install BDtS because "the installer does not support english version".

The messaged stopped there, it was cut.



This is so damned frustrating. Why didn't Bioware release a DRM-free version of that DLC. It's about time!!

Well actually...yeah, I think I do. I bought Mass Effect in the EA shop, so it's the english version, which means it's probably the US version. I also used the english BdtS-installer. The error message though was in german. Because I'm living in Germany and using a german Windows I guess.

It was still cut. I just translated it for my post, because no one would've understood German...

I don't understand...the installer is the DLC itself and it's over 300 megabyte big. How could I possibly e-mail something this large? Maybe it's a misunderstanding...

I dont know how to create the node as well as i dont want to mess up my whole OS.
