hi guys!
let me explain my problem...
when I open the toolset in order to edit the apperance of a character, file -> new -> morph, I can choose the base model to start from: HM_UHM_BASa_0, DF_UHM_BASa_0 etc.
my question is: how can I add a new base model to this list?
I'm interested in this thing because it's the only way I can figure out to create differences from one character to another in certain fields, like size or body shape.
with DATool, for example, I can surely scale or retexture a human body, but if every human in the game shares the some body, this is quite useless...
adding a base model

the head a model use is defined in the HEAD_WORKSHEET column in APR_base.2da, note however that you also must tell it to use the other bodyparts aswell.
the number in those columns is pointing to a .2da listed in 2DA_Base.2da
making new morphfaces is most likely very hard.
AFAIK there is no tools or documentation about it.

The Custom Bodies project is trying to do something similar to that right now -- JackFuzz is making custom models for the PCs and followers, it is supposed to be released soon.

thanks for the answers guys!
I checked this "custom bodies" project: yes, it seems they are doing something very useful to me
in the meantime, to customize the body, for example, of a male human character, I figured out this procedure:
1. extract apr_base.gda from 2da.erf.
2. edit it with a tool like GDApp: delete all the lines apart ID 15. then change this ID to something > than 89 and change the letter in MODELRACE column in an unused one, for example b.
3. save the file with a name like "apr_base_varianthuman.gda".
4. put this file in override folder.
5. open with DATool the models related to human male: hm_uhm_basa_0 as a base model and then the models related to body, feet, hands, hair, eyes and eyelashes.
6. retexture rescale or re-whatyouwant these models.
7. save base model as bm_uhm_basa_0, and the other models accordingly.
8. put all this stuff in override folder.
9. open a savegame with toolset and change the number related to the appearance of the character to the ID in file "apr_base_varianthuman.gda"
10. save the change.
now I have the customized character I wanted.
now my question is: does all this procedure makes sense or there is a more simple way to do this customization?
and changing the appearance of my character in this way will cause problems in playing the official campaigns?
sorry for all these questions but I started using toolset yesterday, and this is all new to me...

well you could extend the chargen with a new option to allow the new model and skip the save game changes.
