Why hasn't there been a patch so we can use our DLCs from Origins in Awakening?

yup and if a modder can do it... frankly i'm disappointed that bioware couldn't.

there should be a reward for people that have actually both everything that they chucked out..

and yes i bought RTO even when the reviews were bad... because i am a fan of bioware.

What was wrong with RTO?

I would just be happy if they fixed dexterity(PS3). I always wanted to make a crossbow archer :-(

Wait, so does anyone know the best conversion tool for the PC version?

This is the best looking one I've seen:

http://www.dragonage...file.php?id=883

Is there a better one?

I was disappointed about the robes in awakening because they seem just like the old robes in origin and the only new thing were the armour even that looks the same only colour difference. I just kept my old gear; I didn’t even go out my way to look for them. They really should patch the game too many bugs.

There are two, and that one is the better one by far in my opinion.

just make sure to get the vigilance-starfang graphic fix file from the other one by KigenAngelo. Because the bat version does not have this.

I'm ok with WK or promo items not being carried over. No need for them. The other major DLC items, namely Stone Prisoner and Return to Ostagar, do carry over. But if WK items do no carry over, why on earth having Warden's Keep enabled messes up with Awakening items looks? What else does it mess up with? Please don't tell me that it is intentional and that we having to disable WK DLC to have Awakening displaying some items with the right graphics is intentional!

*bangs head on keyboard theatrically* It's not an issue with DAO or Awakening; it's an issue with how the items and scripts for Warden's Keep were done. Bioware might want to fix it, but it's not a priority with them for numerous reasons, even though it seems those that complain about the issue want it to be top priority.

True. But since they will have to address the incompatibility that makes Awakening items look like Warden's Keep items ASAP... (of all the DLC's, it had to be WK to cause that? Divine Justice?). It is a major bug, imho. It is very disappointing to finish Awakening and only then learning about such incompatibility!

EDIT: Forgot to mention all the people with console asking me how to disable WK DLC, on YouTube, so they can see Awakening items as they were intended to be seen!

AT Jito463.  Bite me.  I payed hard earned money which I doubt you have any clue what that means.  If I release crap like I would be very quick to fix it.  with the expasion I paid over 100 bucks combined.  There is no reason for the issues that keep occurring with this game.  Bioware used to be very good at releasing quality games.  This is not a small hicup but a problem that seems to continue with there last couple of games.  I have played most of there games and love them, but the need to own up to there mistakes and get fixes for problems they know are present and I bet they knew this would happy.  YOU FREAKING LOSER.

Next time, READ THE POST YOU'RE REPLYING TO!

I was agreeing that Bioware should fix the problems with the DLC in the expansion.  It was the person *I* quoted who said we should fix it ourselves.  Sheesh, try to take the fight to Bioware, and get stabbed in the back by the very people who should be agreeing with me.

I'm agreeing with others that there are more serious bugs than this. It was surprising to me, but fortunately I found out right before going to end game on my 3rd character, so I was able to organize my inventory accordingly. I haven't missed any of the items yet, the DAA loot is ridiculously awesome.

Ditto for me.  There is an unofficial patch floating around here that fixes the DLC issue already.  If a customer can fix it in one day, why is it taking so long for Bioware to get it done?

Yet, he is still supporting Bioware by saying that he's fix doesnt work with non-paid products warden keep and stone prisoner...He shouldnt do that...Not that i care, but they made so many idiotic things with this and i kinda want them to feel the strenght of the angry people...And by that i dont mean only the threads complaining about mistakes at this game...So many errors, its like they were working 2 days to realase it...Without even testing it...

I really hate the fact that no DLC stuff except RtO comes into awakening and thats the exact reason I refuse to buy Awakening. Never got to use starfang in origins because I got it at the very very end after completing everything and I'd like the chance to use it.

So I'm not going to buy DA:A until its sorted or I run out of other good games to buy. (not likely theres quite a few nice things dropping over the next few weeks)

please..take off your blinders..what POSSIBLE reason...or in what alternate retard reality does it being by design make ANY sense....

yes..you start replacing the gear with better gear as you go along..however.

this is how Bio thanks us for buying DLC's.....and an expansion?  thanks for paying (whatever) for Wardens Keep...now buy our $40 abortion of an expansion so that you CAN'T EVEN USE IT when you start!

I'm sure it's not "broken" so to speak..as in it's not a glitch or bug....however it's ignorant, arrogant, and downright ****ty a thing to do...regardless of getting better gear in the expansion.

BioWare wasn't kidding when they said the equipment in Awakening would be better and you wouldn't miss your Origins equipment... trust me. 60% of my equipment in Awakening isn't from Origins anymore and the DLC equipment would have been thrown out the window anyways even if it did transfer. The only thing I kept was my "Key to the City" and a few other little items which aren't DLC but very expensive rare shop items. Even my favourite blades were replaced very quickly by god weapons.
As it is, there are things in place on the expansion that prevent you from showing up "NAKED", so I wouldn't worry about it. Just get the expansion and have fun with it.

Look ... AFAICS, the cause of this problem is that some DlC gear is "flagged" to be module-specific (to  Origins), rather than game-specific (in the latter case it would transfer). WK's gear is, and so is BD Armor. It's not related to DRM or anything else (or it would affect everything). To solve the problem all you really need to do is change some bits (basically a flag) on each item and it transfers. That's what the modfix does.

(BTW, this is ALSO the reason some custom mod items don't xfer either, and was fixable in that case, too.)

I really don't get it. Why should that be a low priority? It wasn't hard to do.

But the other weird question is why they didn't also offer a solution for something that the FAQ file indicates they knew would "strike".

You can easily have a script that checks for missing gear (because it didn't xfer) and then gives the char what the "Orlesian" would have gotten instead. That was doable too.

Or simply put a merchant at the beginning of the game that sells replacement gear. OK, I know it wouldn't make sense for a merchant to be standing out in the rain outside a keep under siege with darkspawn running all over the place, but .... just do it. Like I've said, we've found them in stranger places (like a certain Qunari merchant later on.)

I love BioWare games and the fine folks I've interacted with who work there but this was IMHO a very bad decision.

BioWare chose to penalize their better customers by taking the items that they paid extra money for away from them. This was compounded by the method which it was done which was simply stripping them off the character and forcing them to retake Vigil's Keep in their underwear.

That you get better gear in Awakening is irrelevant. It's not up to anyone but you how you equip your character. Moreover I spent more time looking at a characters armour than I do their face. I choose equipment not soley because of what it can do but on how it looks (which is why I refuse to wear mage hats). Having played over 90 hours with a character wearing the Blood Dragon Armour or the Warden's Commander Armour, that becomes the look I associate with the character. More powerful doesn’t always mean better.

That the promotional DLC and DLC items in general were said to be intended for Origins only is bogus. They were never advertised as such and it a deviation from BioWare practice. No BioWare expansion has ever stripped items from your character that you couldn't get back.

80% of release day complaints were of the what happened to my stuff variety which generated a lot of ill will and most everyone who encountered labeled it a bug. Not a great first impression.

When it gets right down to it all the excuses why this was not done are just that -- excuses. This was accomplished by two different community members within four hours of release.

As to the original question, I believe hot-fixes are a thing of the past. With the long approval time for the various platforms(3 weeks for XBox, and  a month for PS3) It will be a full month after work on the patch is completed before it has passed approval.

Will BioWare correct their bad decision? I don't know, but IMHO they should.

And yet...Discussing this at their forum(I guess it, when it says social.bioware.)that their expansion it fails when its up to add ons(because you cant take wardens armor ffs)they still doesnt say that they are going to work to do something about this...They dont give damn about all these guys paying for their games...I always buy a game because i want to support the company/developers/all the guys working there...BUT when they dont care about me, why should i care about them?I wont! And really guys...If they dont do anything about this i will be just another guy taking the pirate version...This is why i paid for the game? The add-ons were just for origins?Did they mention it somewhere and i dont know about this?

Im just so dissapointed about all these....

I have to applaud Bioware for this one at the same time go what the ? For those that purchased Warden's Keep I feel bad for but it appears that this issue is directly related to how many pirated copies of WK are out there . Rather than stomp out every site that carries the package make it so it doesn't work with Awakenings good one .

You don't deal with piracy by stepping on your customer's toes.  Ubisoft is finding that out with AC2, SH5 & S7 (and probably with SC:C).  Keeping your customer happy is infinitely more important than making some pirates unhappy.

Would you want them to delay releasing the expansion until they had the DLC fixed so the content would import? That was the option, from what I can tell.

[quoteBut the other weird question is why they didn't also offer a solution for something that the FAQ file indicates they knew would "strike".
They did; they told folks to switch out their gear before importing the character with DLC gear.
You can easily have a script that checks for missing gear (because it didn't xfer) and then gives the char what the "Orlesian" would have gotten instead. That was doable too.

These go back to the answer I gave to the first question; by the time they realized the gear wouldn't import, there wasn't time to get this into the game and have the script or merchant tested properly to meet the given release date.
