I just saw on Amazon.com that there are sets of Mass Effect 2 action figures being released on Sep 1, 2010. Is there ANY chance that there will be model replicas of the ships in the ME series?! The whole collection in Shepard's quarters gave me an itch to have a scale model of the Normandy in my own house!

The SR1 or SR2?...or both?

First thoughts: No, no, no. This idea is far too tempting. And I won't start collecting ship models (besides games, strategy guides, world dolls, wooden fans, game soundtracks, artbooks, game figurines, lithographs, perfume miniatures, shells, coffee cups, limited edition Nespresso capsules...).
Second thoughts: I'd rather like a lithograph of both Normandys, but actually a ship model is a good idea. Maybe even something you yourself can build (those scale plastic model kits). But I guess that it's very expensive to produce. And given the low quantities, the chance of disappointed consumers is quite high. (Hard to explain, but the lesser consumers there are, the louder a single voice of a disappointed consumer seems.)

I have to say, I dont really buy things like litho's or action figures or even comics but I would be very tempted by model kits for the different ME ships. I would enjoy spending far too long over those
That would be awesome if Bioware could get those made.

With Injection kit, it's the molds that are expensive (CAD, laser etching, etc), but i would surely buy a resin kit, its dirt cheap to conceive compared to plastic kit, and it can be sold mounted and prepainted (or not, want to paint SR1 with cerberus colors
)

I would like to have either one really, but the SR2 seemed a lot more provocative and elegant to me.....
If I had my way, though, and since they would be scale replicas after all, I think an 10 inch model of the SR1 sitting next to a 6 FOOT model of Sovereign would be all kinds of awesome.
As far as the type....I'm torn between a molded plastic one you make piece by piece and just a small die-cast with a mount.

If it's an actual scale model, I'm all for it. Pre-assembled die cast models aren't my cup of tea, but I won't complain if there's one available. I think both the SR-1 and SR-2 are great sci-fi ship designs and considering that scale modeling is a blooming hobby, it should sell well.

If they do make them they should be hobby model ships as well. The ones you can put together yourself. I think it would be fun to build my own destiny ascension.
