I felt sad when my renagde killed Samara but killing Morinth? Not realy, she deserves tyo die. She could have done the same thing her sisters did but she decided to not and kill people with sex. It's her own dam fault.
Morinth ran away when she was a child. How would you feel if you suddenly started to hit puberty and people came and told you that you have a genetic disorder? You can't ever had a intimate relationship with someone, and you now have to live in total isolate for the rest of your 900+ years of life or die? I cant fault her for running away.
By the time you run into Morinth shes been addicted to her condition for hundreds of years. Doesn't make the killing any better but its not completely her own fault. Again it wasnt like Samara was coming to drag her back and force her into isolation. She's living with the fact that her mother is now chasing her to kill her, not to just stop her.
Yet her sisters did not run away and wenyt on a killing spree? Don't try to defend her. She is a cold, ruthles killer who uses sex as her wepapon. When you go to her apartment, look around her room, every story ends with her killing someone and enjoying it. She deserved it. She had her chance, she left and Samara had no choice but to kill her because Morinth killed countless of inocents.
You cant compare her to her sisters. We never meet them or have any idea of their mental state. Everyone reacts differently to high stress situations. As for cold ruthless killer... well I guess she got something from her mother, who'd rather kill her daughter off than try and help her, serial killer or not.
I'm sure Jack killed hundreds of people, like I dont know... crashing a space station. I dont see the same disdain for her actions. Whats the difference?
You raise a good point about Jack and the fact that she shows a similar bent towards murder and destruction (and even claims to enjoy it). Having said that, in Jack's defense, she had a VERY messed up upbringing. We can assume that Morinth, despite her distaste for Samara's parenting skills, had a better go of it.
One thing I noticed in the Codex is that apparently the condition has been known to prevent the full development of empathy in the asari, due to the inability to fully meld with another and understand their mind, or something along those lines. A little like sociopaths, I suppose, in human biology? That would certainly explain why she has so little sympathy for victims and seems to enjoy killing... her coldness may also be worsened by her condition (ie since she's melded so much, she's burned away more and more of her empathy).
I agree that we don't really know the full story of what happened with her and her sisters. Samara tells us that the reason she ran was because she was indignant over the injustice over her situation, so perhaps that is part of it? Also, we don't know exactly how the initial diagnosis occurs. Are Ardat Yakshi only identified when their first sexual partner keels over? In that case, they have already had a dose of the addiction, making it harder to stop. That would make Morinth weaker than her sisters, for sure, but not necessarily more/less evil (they all got one shot of it, only the other two were able to resist the urge for more) On the other hand, perhaps there are other ways it can be diagnosed.
I think part of the strength of Bioware's writing is that we can all sit here and have completely different, sometimes conflicting views of the same character, and they're all "right" to some degree (or, at the very least, supportable). Some people find Morinth a despicable villain. Some find her a somewhat sympathetic monster. I don't think there's one "right" answer, we can just appreciate our different viewpoints and agree to disagree.
