He was only mildly snarky at the Coronation the one time I recruited Loghain. My PC was confident that their friendship would eventually recover.
I did feed Loghain to the Archdemon though...

If you arrange for Alistair to marry Anora, he will at least remain in the game and you'll see him at post-coronation (in a nasty mood, heh). However, he won't remain in your party if you recruit Loghain.
You first have to harden Allistair however and turn him into "Darth Allistair". You do this on his personal quest to see his half-sister. When things appear to be going south with her tell Allistair "She only wants gold from you" then when the option comes up "everyone is out for themselves, you should learn this." If you do this and have high approval he will eventually voice his new conviction that he shall strive to stand up for himself more, and if you agree then "Darth Allistair" is born.
Thats what I've heard atleast.

there is one more conversation after that that begins with him saying "Ive been thinking" Any conversation choice BUT "No I didn't mean it that way" will lock him into hardened.

What does he say if you say that? Alistair's saying 'I should stop letting people push me around' so if you tell him not to do that you're telling him to continue letting people order him about and...well, he apparently is willing to listen.there is one more conversation after that that begins with him saying "Ive been thinking" Any conversation choice BUT "No I didn't mean it that way" will lock him into hardened.

He will still marry Anora if unhardened. I believe it is harder to convince him to do so, however.Venatio wrote...

Hardening doesn't change Alistair's personality, just his orientation to the kingship and his willingness to keep some personal happiness alongside duty (e.g. his wilingness to go along if the femWarden wants to remain his mistress after he's made king). it definitely makes him a better king.

However, it is possible to harden Alistair, have him marry Anora, and spare Loghain. That way, all of them are alive and still "in-story". If you don't harden Alistair, he will leave completely if you spare Loghain and you will thus be unable to get him to marry Anora.
Afaik, of course.

Only if Loghain is dead. If he's a Warden, Alistair takes off no matter what he promised. He will still marry Anora if unhardened. I believe it is harder to convince him to do so, however.

The only way to get Alistair to marry Anora whilst still sparing Loghain, is by hardening Alistair beforehand.
If Alistair is not hardened, he will leave everything behind - you, the Wardens, Anora - if you spare Loghain.
I'd also like to note that if Alistair is the one killing Loghain, this will also invalidate the option of an Anora/Alistair pairing, no matter if he is hardened or not.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
