This is not a rant about some minor graphical error, or some miniscule damage numbers. This actually is a real technical issue.
After installing patch 1.03 and Awakening, I found much to my dismay that I can no longer create new characters. The prebuilt character model that appears on the left side of the screen in character creation does not show up. At all. I tried in both Awakening and Origins and the same thing happens. No prebuilt model, no portrait, no appearance sliders, nothing. I tried hitting quick play and it defaults to a male human warrior regardless of selected class, gender or race. I reinstalled and rolled back to version 1.02a and left Awakening uninstalled and there are no problems whatsoever. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that i was supposed to be able to create a new warden for Awakening, but how exactly am I supposed to create a new character when the vital piece of code responsible for new character generation has been overwirtten in the new patch?
Here are my system specs:
Windows 2.5.1.2600 (SP 3)
CPU type:AMD Phenom 8650 Triple-Core Processor
CPU Speed (GHz): 2.32
System memory (GB): 2.999
Graphics card model: ATI Radeon HD 3850 x2
Graphics card driver: ati2dvag.dll
Desktop resolution: 1440x900
Hard disk size (GB): 465.759
Hard disk free space (GB): 254.281
I have never encountered any problems with Dragon Age before now.
As I said, I would really like a Bioware response to this issue and I'm probably not going to get one.
Has anyone else encountered anything like this?
