I hope no one takes this the wrong way but I fail to see why people are getting so hyped up with this game.

I mean I seriously do not understand what all the fuss is about and people saying this is one of the greatest rpg games ever made when it's exactly like any other 15 plus RPG's I have ever played.

Again this is just my opinion so take it with a grain of salt.

Well you are intitled to your opinion. But to say this topic is not pointless is silly, This topic has as much use as one saying "Oh gosh this game is SWEET! I love it." You are adding nothing to conversation by saying you hated to game. Also don't make a topic about not likeing a game on that games message board and then get all pissy when people don't like what you had to say.

It reminds me of many other RPGs I've played too. They weren't trying to reinvent the wheel. Where I think they've equaled or surpassed most others is with great story and character, great voice acting, great art design, attentiion to minute detail, and small decisions having great consequences. All of these combined make the players immersion into the world far deeper than any I can recall, other than certain moments in other Bioware games. Seems to me that Bioware is only competing with themselves and perhaps a couple of other quality companies. If this is the kind of crap I'm going to have to put up with for the next tens years, it's going to be a great decade!

Because this beats every single other RPG made in the last decade in every way possible. Not a fanboy quote, the simple truth.  I have played video games all of my life and I used to play RPGs when they were just text based.  I've done and seen it all.  And I can't believe it has become 'this' good.

There is absolutely nothing contained in this game, that I cannot find in most any other RPG games out there now, in fact there is nothing new with this game at all.

i've only played through once, but i'm about to do it again, because i know i can get a different ending.



this is easily the best RPG i have ever played on the computer. i have played... all of them. every good RPG worth mentioning, and then some. Dragon Age wins.

2 things:
1. Outside of your opinion...Define good RPG?
2. You and others still have not given any valid reasons about what sets Dragon Age Origins apart from every other RPG that has been released in the past 2 years.

This game reminds me exactly of Risen, which is a very well put together dialoged, story emmersed, great combat system driven based RPG.

The Menu System in Dragon Age Origins, is old as well, this stype of combat menu system and control has been done to death in all turned based RPG's.

What RPG's are you talking about? You keep saying that there's plenty of RPG's which do what Dragon age does but you've not yet listed them. Even Kotor and Mass Effect characters don't have much dialogue compared to what I've seen in DA,

When it comes to dialogue and characters Dragon Age really is crazy and over-the-top (in a good way).



There may be other great RPGs and DA:O certainly doesn't take BG2's throne in my opinion but it's still the RPG I've hoped for.

I don't think you could ever take BG2 off it's throne even if you made a better game. BG2 has just been embedded in our minds for far too long.

If this doesnt do anything for you and you feel that there is nothing new, then maybe it simply isnt your game.  to me almost every game out there is just another shooter.  its an endless string of shooters, and they are all the same.  modern warfare 2 will be out soon and thats just more of the same, nothng new.  DAO is a very nice break from all those games, and if you are a real RPG fan, then DAO is a dream come true.  for anyone that is a Baldurs Gate fan, DAO is scratching an itch that we couldnt truly reach for years...
