Hi all,

Actually wanted to post something like this for a while, but didn't get around to it until now. I'm surprised there hasn't been a decent "Bailey for ME3" thread as we speak, considering fan reaction seems to be universally positive when it comes to the character. Well I guess it's time we unite and pay everyone's favorite "rough and tumble precint" human captain on the Citadel. It's goddamn frakking Captain Bailey sons of b!tches.

Erm... Who Is Captain Bailey Again?
You know, the guy from Citadel who runs his rough and tumble precint with a pragmatic common sense. He doesn't have time for formalities nor will he turn down a good offer to buy tickets to his "charity balls"; And he doesn't mind bending the rules to help out a friend... And I'd say he just made one or two by helping Shepard's crew and taking in Kyolat Kryios as his underlings... The guy's not too difficult to like, really.

So Why Do We Like This Guy?
1) Did I mention he's played by Mr. Michael Hogan? I mean, the veteran actor who brought to life the frakking wonder of a sci-fi character that is Col. Saul Tigh from Battle Star Galactica? A secene-stealer in every work he appears in, Mr. Hogan's performance lead to the development of Col. Tigh from just a supporting character into one of the series' central figures. Given enough screen time, it's quite likely Capt. Bailey may achieve quite the same significance in the MEverse.

2) Capt. Bailey can be considered the "Popeye" Doyle of Citadel Space. He's hardened but not bitter, morally ambigious but not without compassion. He gets the job done, and in doing so becomes a valuable ally to Shepard. One can easily imagine Garrus becoming just like him in 20 years. That is, if he is now emotionally stable enough to survive that long.

Okay, But How Will He Return in ME3?
It'd be easy. The game itself already hinted at his return. First of all, when enquired by Shepard, Bailey outright confessed to have screwed up "raising a son", a subplot that would be interesting to develop; Moreover, the TIM has expressed interest in recruiting Bailey. Regardless of Shepard working for Cerberus or not in ME3, this could potentially produce some interesting plot twists.

Even If He Does Return, What Role Should He Play?
1) Well, for starters, it'd be a HUGE fan service for Bailey to incorporate his signature lines from BSG into his character, "I'm frakkin' Capt. Bailey of C-Sec goddamnit! And if I die here today, that's the man I wanna be!" Wouldn't that be awsome? Oh, and since the character is based on Michael Hogan, can we have him male-pattern bald to more closely resemble his VA please?

2) Capt. Bailey is obviously a flawed character, and we have yet to seen any alchoholic characters in the game... reminds me of anyone from BSG? Also, the father-son conflict between Bailey & Bailey Jr, as well as Thane and Kyolat may very well become intertwined in ME3, and Bailey may play a key role in the resolving of both conflicts.

3) If Bailey does somehow wind up on Shepard's ship, while not neccessarily a squad member, will make a GREAT XO. In fact, he can fill the void XO Pressly left behind MUCH better than Kelly. His vast network of contacts and knowledge of police work will no doubt come in handy. He may even be competent at politics, seeing how he managed to rise through the rank over the past two years while keeping allies happy on both sides of the law. This may somehow work against him though, as he may be torn between his loyalty to Shepard and TIM (if he does get recruited by Cerberus).

If you've always like Capt. Bailey, but was too lazy to do this yourself, now it's time to show your support! Tell us why YOU like Capt. Bailey and why and how YOU think Bailey can fit in the ME3 universe! Post up you goddamn frakking sons of b!tches!

Yeah and your thread doesn't even have a full sentence in it.:bandit:

Yes he kinda is but:
1) that just makes him all the more interesting doesn't it? Michael Hogan is known for playing flawed characters anyway. Plus why is it okay for TIM to be the biggest crook among humanity and not Bailey? His "crimes" seemed small-time in comparison.

2) A crook in need is a crook in deed. You willingly left your friend's son in the mentorship of a crook, what does that make you?

Yea, but what's better than a crook? A crook on your side.

As long as he's on my side, he's my favourite crook.Posted Image

Mmmm...

TIM isn't a crook. He is a magnificent son of a b*tch, that is about to save the galaxy with the help of God, and a few marines. Bailey is way down the ladder and is supposed to play by th rules... Not than I blame him he doesn't, but he just has little to commend him in my eyes... Overall, he's an OK guy, but nothing more.

As for Thane's son, I din't care about him, but advised Bailey to give him a snitch job, and went to read Miranda's report to TIM, suggestion that we'll need more of the Kelham guys in the near future. And I approved.

He's so Canadian!

I don't like that he takes bribes and beats people, but I wish you could do more with him almost because of that. I'd enjoy debating ethics with him on the Normandy (I wonder if Bailey is a recent recruit, or if Garrus ever knew him?).

In the after mission report for Thane's loyalty quest the Illusive Man mentioned he was going to try and recruit Bailey and hire Kelham to combat anti-human sentiment on the Citadel. If he is recruited by Cerberus, that would make things interesting.

I like the way he responds when you ask him about "abusing suspects."

Bailey was believed to be with Alliance Navy until after the Battle of Citadel, so it's possible for Garrus to have worked  with him in C-Sec. Still, the two will have an interesting dynamics I supposed, considered their shared background and overall similar personality.

I theorized that Bailey may have been Garrus in 20 years, had he not met Shepard.

You wouldn't have more respect for your hard-working parents, who put food on your table and you through school, over the rich boss they work for, just cuz a rich guy has "more to commend"? TIM doesn't care about your life, it's "little" people like Bailey that keep you safe and alive, friend.

And how is it that scumbags like Kelham are in your eyes on par with Bailey? Have you got no common sense of morality at all?

Cool story bro.

Onto the topic though, it should be interesting if Bailey is recruitable in the next game (as it's implied), also he's a pretty realistic character.

Like father, like son. Yes, Mike's son, Gabe, voiced Dylan Morton in Dino Crisis 2.
