I'm Commander Shepard, and I have the worst voice actor on the Citadel.

I like Mark Meer's voice. He's a soldier, not a goddamn thespian. That's how real people speak, without emotion dripping off every word.

Oh, but he does! It's just more subtle. Not everyone shows their emotions on their sleeves. For instance, the Jack romance does a very good job of showing that off.Revanesque wrote...

From what I've seen of Femshep, Hale takes it too seriously. Makes the games WAY too overdramatic for me. I want to have fun.

Perhaps he is more subtle, but in the Jack romance when he says "No more questions," it didn't seem very tender. It was like he was finishing up a press conference.drunken pyromaniac wrote...

Really? I thought it sounded quite tender. Anyway, earlier in the romance he does persistant and snarky very well when Jack tells him to go away.Revanesque wrote...

Seriously. This guy must be the absolute WORST voice actor I've ever heard! He's so monotonous and boring, it almost makes me hate my own character.
Hell, anyone who's heard the speech he gives to the crew once you get the ship in the original knows EXACTLY what I'm talking about.
This guy has the lead voice of a HUGE video game series, yet he shows absolutely no enthusiasm for his work, or any emotion in his voice, even when there should be some. Someone needs to kick this dude out of the studio and give Clint Eastwood a call.

I was more appalled at the regression of Hale's voice acting. I think sans a few glorious moments (Tali's trial speeches), her character sound really flat and "air-y".

Fair enough, to each his own.Revanesque wrote...
I will admit that he does a great job when Tali and Legion are arguing, if you choose the renegade option. He's not a horrible voice actor, but he just doesn't work for me. I find him pretty bland.

Anyway, fits a commander type to be sort of neutral most of the time. I think most of his "bad voice acting" moments people are refering to are more due to the facial animations being weird for certain scenes. Like, whenever Shepard smiles.
I think it's a good sign for bioware though just the sheer amount of nitpicking and whining going on around here. Means people care about the games.

It all comes down to opinion really. I just find that when making a Male Shepard his voice doesn't really fit the look of the character. But with my FemShep the voice fits the character and I am used to Hale's voice acting now.

Meer doesn't deliver on every line, neither does Hale. And if Ron
Perlman were the original choice for Maleshep's VA, it would be
significantly more epic, but that's not the case, and Mark Meer delivers
for having so little experience. He improved tenfold from ME1 to ME2.
For someone who's not a CO in real life, he convinced me that Shepard
was.

I
suppose if you'd like Meer to be more "tender" he could act like Femshep
during Jacob's romance. I and many others prefer the direction the Male
romances took.
Agreed. I played 2 playthroughs as FemshepFlyinElk212 wrote...

in ME1 and it was good, but ME2 was a lot different.

I'm sure OP also thinks Hale is the greatest VA since sliced cheese. That's usually where this thread goes...
