I'm Commander Shepard, and I have the worst voice actor on the Citadel.

Mark Meer does quite a bit more voices than Male Shepard.

He's quite talented skilled. People compare him being really good at R, and Hale at being great at P. I would say that's more of a sex than skill issue. (Male's screams are just more intimidating than Females.)
And as everyone has stated before, he's there to play the "everyday man." He's supposed to be flat and straightforward, and thus, mallaeable to the players whim (face, skin tone, etc), including differing social responses.
Man, now I do feel really weird... for me, it's always been the opposite. I've found Meer to be an excellent P and Hale to be a cold, ruthless and predatory R. Of course, Meer is pretty decent at R too from what I've seen on YouTube, just a different type of R... Meer is joking and blase (BIG STUPID JELLYFISH), while Hale has this cool drawl to her. Even some of Hale's Paragon responses sound like a threat. o_O

Hale just sounds more pissed off than Meer does IMO
Hale sounds forced, which I hate. Shepard is Hales worse performance IMHO. I loved her as Bastila, did fantastic with Samus voice and was epic in Brutal Legends but in ME1 and 2 she just is not that good, plus she got worse in ME2 unlike Meer who got alot better.

Seriously. This guy must be the absolute WORST voice actor I've ever heard! He's so monotonous and boring, it almost makes me hate my own character.
Hell, anyone who's heard the speech he gives to the crew once you get the ship in the original knows EXACTLY what I'm talking about.
This guy has the lead voice of a HUGE video game series, yet he shows absolutely no enthusiasm for his work, or any emotion in his voice, even when there should be some. Someone needs to kick this dude out of the studio and give Clint Eastwood a call.
You should hear Polish Shepard dubbing guy. He is totally awful . One tone in every sentence. Overall, Polish dubbing suxx, including the whole translation...

I really don't know what you're talking about. I thought his speech to the crew was rather rousing, and he is certainly NOT monotone. In most cases his changes in pitch and inflection are actually much MORE pronounced than Jennifer Hale's are. When I first played a femShep I thought Hale sounded flat until I got used to her more subtle delivery (and part of it is her deepening her voice for the role).Guardian4379 wrote...

Honestly, I'm not even sure whether most of the people who raise this criticism have even payed much attention to the voice acting; sometimes I think people just repeat this "Mark Meer sucks" line because it is popular to think so. I think he does a great job, personally, and his voice fits the role very well.
Sure, not every line is delivered the way I'd like -- a few of the more "tender" moments sound a bit awkward -- but I can count several instances in just the first area where I feel that Meer does a better job than Hale, and plenty of times throughout the game where I thought his delivery was absolutely perfect. Of course Jen Hale has plenty of great moments herself, but they're both excellent voice actors, so that is to be expected. I really wish people would stop ripping on Meer, though. He doesn't deserve it at all.

And i think overall his voice is pretty good, it sounds like a voice a white man, a black man or heck even a hispanic man could have, thats the type of voice "make your own face" characters should have.
