Been looking around the forums for a while, and haven't found a solution to this problem.  I try to install either patches for ME2 or the DLC for the game, and I get error messages saying that Mass Effect 2 is not installed.  Anyone know how to fix this?

Try this :-)

Bravenu3 wrote...

I have the same problem with the Cerberus Arc Projector :-(

However the solution mentioned here

http://forums.steamp....php?p=13212859

worked for me :-)

open up regedit, press WINDOW KEY + R, it should bring up the run tool, if not find it.

type in REGEDIT and press enter.

once in regedit navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > BIOWARE > MASS EFFECT 2

once there look for the registry that says Path on name; edit it to where your STEAM copy of ME2 is located

C\\Program Files\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\mass effect 2

in most cases

The fix might not work immediately. Restart your PC to be sure.

a complete re-install of the game should fix the problem as well.

Would someone post their registry entries for ME2 to see what mine should be looking like? I run Vista.

For Win7 64bit the key is:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\BioWare\\Mass Effect 2]

"Path"="X:\\\\PATH\\\\Mass Effect 2"

REALLY with two slashes in the folder path (even if the forum software will mess it up :-(

I have the same problem. There is no bioware subdirectory within \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\SOFTWARE\\\\\\\\.
Also, I can't uninstall Mass Effect 2 PC (Retail Copy) because it was never installed in the first place. lol.

Edit: Reinstalling by manually running setup.exe from disc.

I have put together a .reg file to fix this path problem. It is exported from my registry (Win7 64bit) and you can download it here. It needs to be manually edited to fit the path of YOUR Mass Effect 2 game folder. Open it in a text editor (I recommend Notepad++). Change
X:\\PATH\\Mass Effect 2
to the ME2 installation path on your PC (really with 2 slashes) and save the file again as .reg. Then open and add to your registry. TOTALLY AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

In a 64bit version of Windows the ME2 key name is:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Wow6432Node/BioWare/Mass Effect 2

Note that it is in the HKLM/software/Wow6432Node/...

This will be true (keys in the Wow6432Node) for most 32bit user software installed into a 64bit version of Windows.

Adding the keys like Bravenu had posted before worked out. The trick was that I too am running 64 bit, like zBobG, so was trying to put the entries in the wrong spot.

Thanks to everyone; problem solved!

Whenever I try to install equalizer pack I get the following error. Have deleted pack and re downloaded a couple of times. Any ideas?

---------------------------

NSIS Error

---------------------------

The installer you are trying to use is corrupted or incomplete.

This could be the result of a damaged disk, a failed download or a virus.

You may want to contact the author of this installer to obtain a new copy.

It may be possible to skip this check using the /NCRC command line switch

(NOT RECOMMENDED).

---------------------------

OK

You will need to select export from the regedit menu, then save the reg file, then open it to apply the changes. If you do not have the full path in your registry (I did not), you will have to create a new key, add three new strings (reg_sz). Leave the first blank, name the second one Flavour with a value of Steam, name the third Path with a value of the actual file path to the .exe.

It can take a few minutes to start the actual install once it has completed the file verification. Kasumi and Overlord are large, so thats why they take a bit longer.
Also, make sure you are running them as admin.

I forgot one detail, but I don't know, if is important, all DLC install files have ME2 icon but Kasumi and Overlord have only classic icon of .exe file...
