Just brought the game and installed and now now of the characters speak in the game or cutscenes, no audio or lip movement. help!
No dialogue in game what so ever

I am having the same problem i get no dialogue at all but I can hear all the other sounds and music. Please help.

Did you install in any other language then the default one? The second DVD included seems to contain the speech effects for other languages. Perhaps reinstalling will work? Or perhaps you have to use the second DVD somehow?

I'm having the same issue and tried EVERYTHING. The NPC names are all fine, just no voice in the character dialogue so I literally have to read every single subtitle to grasp the storyline 
I've reinstalled, patched it individually, updated my sound drivers, uninstalled directX and reinstalled the directX supplied on the CD, changed my sound acceleration to Basic and also tried all the other slider options, tried playing it on older patches and on older directX versions - STILL NO VOICE AUDIO and I swear im on the brink of throwing my monitor through my office window.
Someone please please please help me as without voice audio, its very hard to enjoy the game as you can't connect with the characters and I spend most of my play time reading the subtitles.
Any tips/suggestions/help in any form will be GREATLY appreciated. Many thanks in advance!

A quick note that I've downloaded some DLC content and all of the character voices work perfectly. Perhaps this means there's a problem with my voice sound files of my DA:O vanilla?
If so, does anyone know where I can re-download them from? Maybe mine are corrupt..
I tried another fresh re-install but still no dice..
Any help would be greatly appreciated - thanks a million in advance
