Yes, it's a joke that probably made them a butt load of money.

Personally I found firewalker somewhat boring. It's just jumping around and missile spam, levels are short (this is probably a good thing since I got bored during the first HH mission), few and linear. That said ME2 just wasn't built with on-site ME1 style planetary exploration in mind; anyone who expected Bioware to rework ME2 so extensively and put in the enormous time and effort to build many large and interesting planetary environments (they'd need to be more interesting then ME1 if there's to be any sense in doing them) obviously has no clue at just how much work this is. People seem to "just" want lots of interesting environments to explore. "Just" give us several miles of interesting terrain per planet to explore with story and quest elements on each. Guess what, coming up with them is an enormous process involving lots of people - writers, concept artists, coders, 3d modelers, texturers, animators, scripters, even sfx and music people. Making it all in the scale people want it to be and more interesting then in ME1 would require almost as much effort as building a somewhat smaller but a full-fledged separate game. It's a bit like getting a skateboard as a gift and then complaining because it's not a porsche. Well, duh. Obviously, the scope some expected just isn't feasible for a DLC. Which is part of the problem - putting a vehicle meant for exploration in a few short and linear levels feels too restricted and awkward to me. Might have been better to just script some on foot but interesting missions then introduce a Jeep and put it in a 10x10 garage for you to drive it in.

Also, I preferred the Mako as a vehicle. Maybe I just like wheels better, but what happened here is people have been complaining about the physics of the Mako. Instead of fixing that (not easy, granted) they just removed the wheels and made the physics a non issue. Seems like a bit of a cheat to me.. just saying.

I hope planetary exploration will be back in ME3 and that it'll be more interesting then in ME1 . I just don't think this is a realistic goal to expect of any ME2 DLCs.

One thing's for sure. ME1 mako missions were still a ton better then planet scanning in ME2.. that was incredibly boring for me. Luckily there's no reason to thoroughly scan every planet, something I learned the hard way after the first playthrough.

Depends on how you look at it.  Consider the Artifact mission, for instance - make it into a larger, less linear version, maybe have the acid sea take up a corner of the area, block off ends by cliffs/ships, and falls, throw in enemy patrols(rather then enemy guards at the artifacts, and you have some nice explorable terrain and mission, along with great jumps and platform areas for the hammerhead.

Wouldn't expect it for free though - if we see anything of the sort, it'll be paid for sure.

Well...i know many of you wont like this...but i like firewalker pack and i like hammerhead...Yes missions are easy and the story is short but it was free and it really suits the ME2. I hope that there will be more missions with hammerhead.

Having played through this, I need to agree with OP.

I think the majority of people were likely hoping for an improved version of the vehicle quests from the first game, where you can freely rove around a planet and pick up interesting things to do.

Instead of improving and perfecting the design that was already there, they just threw it out and gave us a really lame arcade game.. a short one at that. One without check points!!

I played two missions and it was boring so I didn't finish the rest.

Please, there is already a well established Hammerhead thread to discuss this topic
