Mass Effect,  Episode 3: War at the End of Time


The year is 2185.  Through the heroic actions of Commander Shepard and the crew of the Normandy SR2, countless human lives have been saved around the galaxy.  but a far greater threat now looms.  A massive, seemingly invulnerable army of Reapers has gathered at the edge of dark space, intent on wiping out sentient life in the know universe.  Their first blow comes from a fifth column of indoctrinated sleeper agents in the Citadel.  Working in independant cells, these operatives disrupt Citadel functions at their core, assassinating key officials and convulsing C-Sec operations. 

With the fate of all but one of the Council members unknown, a new initiative, devised by the human representative Anderson is hastily set in motion.  A multi-species team of Spectres, codenamed the "Tetrarchs" are given unprecedented emergency powers to coordinate a defense against the impending Reaper attack.  Setting aside historic rivalries, an asari, a turian, a salarian, and the lone human Spectre, Shepard, requisition an upgraded Normandy SR2 as their base of operations.  To their ranks are added a quarian, a krogan, and even a geth.  their task:  to muster galactic support by combining the ingenuity and resources of the major races in Citadel Space.

But, with the galaxy thrown into chaos by the collapse of the Citadel and time running short, victory seems at best a distant possibility.  Their is escalating tension even among the Council races and paranoia is rife everywhere.  Can sapient life-forms find a way to prevail against the impersonal malice of an enemy that exists to destroy them?  Bloodied, battered and desperate, the prepare for a final, epoch-shattering fight.

That sounds awesome man! It's clear that the Reapers are going to be the big baddies in ME3, but your idea of how the whole thing can start sounds mint. Do you reckon the Turian Spectre you mentioned might take the form of Garrus? He's far too badass to not have as a team member, and he does say in ME1 that he plans on re-applying for Spectre status... Could that work? Which team members would you bring back for your version?

They have to upgrade Zaeed to Spectre status too.

The Turian could be Garrus.  I purposefully left it open as some of the potential squadmates may have been killed in ME2.  I would want Liara and Wrex to be around too, but the latter might have been dead for years by the time ME3 rolls around.

My vision for the next game (which is nothing more than fun speculation) is that the team would be smaller, tighter and more of a leet "Seven Samurai" than the rag tag "Dirty Dozen" of the last game.  The "geth" would either be Legion or an uploaded reconstruction of him.
