Nothing like taking an Epic storyline (DA:O) and just throwing into the rubbish bin :pinched:

I really hope that Hawke is still the main character, I did love the Warden's story but it was pretty much wrapped up thanks to all the dlc that origins had. I hope they produce more dlc for DA2 so that bridges the gap between the two games and sets us up nicely for DA3 as i would love to see a continuation of Hawke's story during the mage/templar war. On saying that however a new character wouldnt go amiss either, it would be interesting to see if Bioware resurrect the old origins scheme or go with the whole Hawke character layout again.

But why does there need to be a Royal heir?.....I mean it really makes no difference to the story -of the games- one way or another.

Also, I'd just like to add that I have zero expectations for DA3, since DA2 was so short and dull. Just my opinion of course.

EDIT. I agree with about Skyrim. I'm currently loveing that game.

I loved DAO despite dull graphics. I hate to flame a game but I hated DA2 because of dull story and dull dialogue. I've tried to be honest with myself and I wonder if I hated DA2 so much because they seem to have simply discarded such a rich and interesting world from the first game that I was so intrigued by and had grown to love. It kinda felt like a huge "F YOU" from the developers. If I received enormous praise and positive response for something I created I would want to build on it and reward my fans even more. But instead I suppose some people would rather respond by completely changing it. I was also under the impression that my previous character and saves would carry over to the rest of the series if I so desired. That and I hated running back and forth around basically the same place for the entire game.

Metagaming. It's not so much that I want a royal heir to be referenced in DA3-I simply don't want Gaider to totally rule out the possibility of there being one. Similar to how Bioware overwrote your choices with Leliana and Anders. If you're going to the trouble to arrange a royal marriage, naturally you want there to be  a next generation to take the throne.

I hope Bioware create survivor mode fighting darksporn etc for Dragon Age 3 as a method of leveling up characters possibly !
Also a fix for Origins with an attack next enemy button like R in Dragon Age 2 very annoying if you cant see cursor in a firefight , screen is very busy almost immposible to see

Because it makes for a GREAT storyline continuation.....2 Wardens successfully having a child...perhaps with some help from Avernus or something similarly interesting. Far better than the the lackluster, utterly boring-ass, let-down of a game that is DA:2 <_<

Again I don't see how it would make a difference to the story of the games or the books. And David Gaider has already stated that two Warden's will not have a child.
So that pretty much rains on the parades of all those precious princess Couslands out there who are obsessed with being Queen, because it will mean they are all set aside for a much more fertil bride *Shrugs"

EDIT. It only makes great story continuation IF the story is going to revolve around Alistair and the Warden and clearly it isn't.

Let's face facts here people.

The core issues at hand with DA2 was the lack of personal touch, i.e., ability to have conversations with your party at any time, not just as directed by the linear story line, as well as the new battle system. Not saying those were issues with me personally, however, there is a large focus by a majority of the gamer community concerning DA2. The being said, yes, personally at first I was a little thrown off by the lack of ability to have conversations with characters outside at any time, (I thought Awakening's throwback to Mass Effect was just a one-time thing) but I was satiated by the mixture of conversations that happened while running through the world--er... Kirkwall. Not enough to wholeheartedly except the change for further DA games, but... what's done is done for now.

A lot of PC gamers believed the new battle system to be blatantly difficult and took a lot of time getting used to. I've heard mixed reviews, with myself actually counting among the positive end. I thought the new battle system for PC was a major upgrade from Origins and I enjoyed it immensely. As for the wave after wave of enemies, maybe tone that one down a bit.

Problematic for myself, and for probably somewhere in the 90% range of DA gamers, was the fact that our actions had little to no impact on the overall direction of the story line. The non-linear focus was fantastic in DA:O, and even in Awakening one's actions had a major impact on the outcome. The Mass Effect series also exhibited the same thing, except to an even greater degree, by totally affecting the sequels. The Dragon Age games I understand are semi-isolated story lines within the same world, so not expecting that kind of major shift, but it's that kind of almost evolving game play that makes one really feel like they're getting their money's worth I mean, be honest, $50... $60 is far too much for a video game. Employee's salaries aside--come on. So if I'm spending $50 (PC) for a game, I want to make damn sure I'm getting my money's worth. DA2 was a buzz kill in that sense because it was totally out of left field, nothing like what we've come to expect from the company, and in all fairness seemed like a complete cop-out.

Through all this seemingly negative stuff though, I actually found myself growing to love DA2, as an isolated story line. When I kind of came to terms with the fact I was not going to be getting another DA:O, (redundant quest areas aside...) I took it for what it was, and enjoyed it for what it was. I invested in the DLC's, and am tepidly happy. Which is not to say... I'll give it the same credit AGAIN. If you catch my drift BioWare.

Though I'll have already spent my money buying it, so it wouldn't really matter anyway.

I personally liked Dragon Age: Origins, but thought Dragon Age 2 was soooo much better. It was great to be able to actually have your character talk to others and I liked the choice of what to say to NPCs. I also liked how character's reactions, dialogue and quests all changed depending on if you were nice, snarky or rude. I wasn't happy with my silent Warden in DAO. I, too, hope that Hawke at least makes an appearance in Dragon Age 3, if he/she does not star as the main character.

I heard a rumor that Dragon Age 3 will be an MMO. I sincerely hope not. I am not a fan of MMOs and would not purchase DA3 if that's what BioWare decides to do. Online games have too many issues, too much lag, and usually lack story. Please reconsider, BioWare!

Otherwise, very much looking forward to DA3!  :wizard:

I am thinking about DA3 and when it would feature a new protaganist and those conversation options that you couldn´t have in interactions with other companions or characters if you were a previous protaganist.

Interactions between perhaps a romanced leliana with the warden, when the warden meets characters from his/her past in DAO, friendship with allistair and so on.

I wondered if Bioware didn´t understood the advantages of having a previous protaganist in DA3.

So are they completley done with the warden?  as in it has been announced that the character will not be featured in any future installments?

I'd be really sad to have no Warden in DA3((
Hope they'll try to keep both Hawke and Warden. What if these guys meet perhaps? I was so happy when Tallis spoke to Hawke 'bout Warden (and his\\her staying in Lothering)...
It looks like there'll be a new hero to save the day... And no children for the king & warden queen of Ferelden... and they'll probably kill Anders... And Andy's got my sympathy since Awakening, so I'd be pissed off & go to play Skyrim like 4ever (-_-")

I think a new character is needed for DA3, it also needs to be epic like DAO, I mean in DAO you stop a horde of twisted creatures from destroying the world by killing a corrupted god, and in DA2 you kill a first enchanter turned harvester and a crazy Templar lady, all in just one city. Bioware really needs to up the ante in DA3.

Also all new companions would be nice, I'd like a male elf mage who isn't a keeper of some kind, since every elf mage companion has been a female keeper.(with the exception of Sketch) Also be sure to include easy access to a respec item since most people have at least one problem with how any companion starts off.

Most importantly, we should be able to customize the protagonist, while I don't mind playing as a human, it would be nice to try the other 3 races and pick different origins instead of being stuck with just one.

DAO and DA2 are great games. Played them both countless times and still haven't got bored. Fighting is so much better in DA2, especially for a mage (not just prod with staff and wave your arms about). Being able to comment on conversations between party members was a nice touch in DA2, but I miss being able to talk to people when I want to not just when dictated by the game. Also (sorry if I offend anyone) being able to shag the person your character is going out with was missing from DA2. As for DA3, bring back conversations with party members whilst walking about, keep different characteristics for main character (harsh, funny, nice etc), bring back 'romance' scenes (not just a picture of a candle) and make the game longer - more like DAO. If I had to choose between Warden an Hawke it would have to be Hawke. The ending was left too open for Hawkes adventures to finish like that and Hawke can go out with Anders (best character in the game since Awakening). One small complaint about DA2 - you get toknow the party members too quickly. I really can't see Anders telling anyone he's an 'abomination' after one night and would Fenris really blurt out that he's an escaped slave as soon as he meets Hawke. For all he knows you could be working for Danarius. Getting to know party members during the game through conversations, as in DAO, was so much more interesting. I've got a lot of hopes for DA3 and i'll certainly be pre-ordering on the first day I can.

Dragon Age 2 you mean?
There are two Terminator movies, three Star Wars movies and so far only one Dragon Age game.

Sorry, being childish doesn't invalidate history.

Look my opine but they had much to finish in DAO and DA2 was just too fast catering to the console games. A quick play through and your finished. It does not allow all the interaction as in DAO because it stopped being a PC game with long and complicated plots to a game console quick and dirty play and start the next one. I would much like to see a return to the old DAO play through. They had much more modules to finish or introduce in DAO and now it is a whole game played in a few hours instead of days. or months. More full of videos than game play it is just too quick. I like the long played out choice making of DAO and even though I hate puzzles in both games I can at least get online help doing them. As complicated as DAO plots are and even though they are not uniform like female avatar cannot have a relationship with Morrigan. I stll like figuring out the different choices and playing each choice through. Plus you can gather more allies through the mages collective (although never finished that one) and the irregulars. this latest DA2 was very disappointing finished it in just 3 days of game play with a rogue now it wants me to do the same with the other ones to get the prize. what ever that will be. so DA 3 will be another game pushed to the console playing version with little or no plot make choices geared to the console not the PC interaction and lots of videos. To show your choice and no connection. the side quests are annoying also. small maps and just walk around til you find the items this is console gaming theory like the very first kings quest just walk around and do what is in front of you they want to make more money in this genera and the PC gaming theory ou the door. Consoles are nice to play but they lack the plot and choices that PC's are gear towards in game play.

Its oficial about da3 and cant wait, as abit dissapointed, about da2.
so when bioware is gonna make an oficial suggestion topic???? Do they want to read our suggestions?
The oficial articles speak about a combination of da1 and da2, the best features in da3. But who decides which are the best features?
I loved the battle system from da2, in some points proved to be very smart and fast.. not laggy as da1 (but no problems with da1 system as well.. it was really good).
I hope they have a very reach skill points tree and choices like da1 and even more…
I wish they make a HUGE map with HUGE worlds, lots of areas to explore, the interest to explore and collect,  with lots of traveling and less loading screens.
I wish them to don’t rush and make it unforgettable!
I wish them to add camping, also buy property!!! Both.. as I said, I need huge map and huge worlds!.. More like a map that you can scroll your mouse on it and travel by scrolling the mouse cursor to view it all. Hundreds of hours game play..
The ability to travel by feet or with a mount or fast travel.. Both
A very very open sdk toolset for moders and lots of expansions and lots of tools.
A point to detail worlds and not the same dungeons, same towns, etc.. Progressive AI for the npc’s.
If it has an online system, not to interve with the original story, but something extra, nice,  like mass effect 3. But I forgot, we don’t know how is going to be.. so not sure if it’s a good or a bad feature.  But there is rumors that da3, will have multiplayer system.
More romance than da 2.
I don’t know why they almost totally removed it in awakening and in da2 they gave just an idea about it… not much..
I also loved the houmor in da2.. very funny and nice.. naughty
we love naughty things.. and dont forget.. dont rush please..

Happy new year to all.

I agree with alot of people on the boards about how DA2 was...different. But perhaps it was neccessary for them to tell a very different story that will lead into DA3. I am just glad to have HAD the experience rather than not.

I have another idea: why don't they also make a patch for DAO so that when youre in lothering you can meet and greet the hawkes… i mean… i searched every house and theres just no sign of 'em. I undrestand that you cant meet yourself since youre DA2 char is not yet made but you could be able to greet Bethany and Carver… *spoiler* mabye warn them about the deep roads… *spoiler end* or mabye tell them to run from lothering

I didn't relly know where to post this but… this is a thing that doesnt make sense:
Bethany and Carver are supposed to be twins, yet one is male an the other is female(ok i agree it can happen, i totally support this part) but… Bethany is mage an Carver isn't!!!
From my undrestanding its the blood that makes the difference between mage and non-mage, yet twins are supposed to have almost identical blood type(even if they are separate twins)

While i had no love for the Warden, i cant say i was besotted with Hawke either, but for me I'm glad the Warden only got a passing mention in DA2 because after playing DAO and all its dlc made my dissatifaction with the Warden even worse as his story was pretty much dome and dusted by the end of the core game making the DLC feel like nothing more than a cash cow dragging a characters story on way beyond the point at which it was clearly over just for additional profit which meant that i went from totally bored with the Warden at only completing 50% of the core game to having a urge to just kill the Warden off and be done with it forever by the end of all the DLC.

That was bad enough for me, but the biggest killer of the whole game for me that despite the so called epic story it was nothing more than a generic and very cliche'd trudge around and save the world from imminent destruction, so while i'd like more of a story than you got from DA2 i sincerely and with all the greatest of respect to those who love DAO hope that we never ever return to a another generic save the world from its own stupidity.....again or yet another Grey Warden since the idea of playing a character that will die in 30 years due to the blight infection no matter what you do
gives a whole sense of "whats the point in even trying at all" to the game much like Bungie did with the main PC in halo reach

The Grey Wardens don't die cause of "blight infection"(by wich i suppose you mean blight corruption). They either become imune to it or die because of it in the Joining.

I never had the feeling that the Warden's story was 'done and dusted' by the end of the DAO. The saving of the country done, now was the time to really start Warden's story. I was so disappointed that DAA didn't respect Warden's personal choices, but it opened several interesting issues about darkspawn - and there were hints about it in DA2 too, so I think they will definitely continue with it.

And for me, the fact that the Warden keeps fighting despite knowing that even in case of victory he will not live very long is what it makes more interesting and not just 'save the world, be the hero, live happily ever after'.

But as i said - what I'd like is to have an option to play either with the Warden, Hawke or completely new character. Why not let everyone choose what they prefer most? I don't think it would be so impossible...

Thumbs up:) I think ill even put my feet's thumbs up for ya :D
