Once the news is known, I predict the following will happen:
1/3 will claim the news is the greatest thing ever (regardless of what it is, it could simply be pictures of Bioware devs eating toast)
1/3 will claim the news is the worst thing ever (it could be that ME3 will be released in 2 weeks and has been in development for 2 years and is 3x longer than ME2)
1/3 won't care as they're still making posts in the Tali thread.
What is the other 1% going to do?
The other 1% will prefer this turn of events, Jeff.
You fail so hardcore in this case.
I have 3 people in front of me. John, Joe, James.
John likes pie
Joe likes cake
James like neither
So, I can say:
1/3 likes pie
1/3 likes cake
1/3 likes neither
I have accounted for everyone. But to prove that you were incorrect in assuming that somehow I was relating 1/3 to mean a % and not a hard fact number (i.e. 1 out of 3)
33% will like X
33% will like Y
33% will like Z
In that case, that would be 99%, thus missing a 1%
But what in the case of 33.33%?
Then that'd be 99.99%, thus reducing it to a small .01%
Again, that same 1/3 can be broken down even further (according to your assumptions as to what I was somehow foolling myself into thinking incorrectly) in that:
1/3 = 33.333333%
So, now we're at: 99.999999% So, now your 1% is reduced to 0.000001%
Want me to continue showing that you were wrong in assuming that 1/3 = 99% when you add up all the thirds? Because like the numerical version of pie (sorry, don't know the ASCII code for it), some assume that pie = 3.14, when in fact, it goes on for a very, very long time afterwards, but like your assumption that 1/3 = 33%, when in fact, that it could go on into infiity.
But that's not what I was saying and you either knew it when you posted and were looking for an argument, or you didn't know better. Which is the case? It's easier to admit one than the other. Which will you chose?

Well if ME 1 had ME 2's hype the same thing could technically be said for things people didn't like in Mass Effect 1 like the Mako, inventory, not as rpg as previous games,etc.Starscream723 wrote...

It has to be said, there's only SO many times they can hype stuff that turns out to be crap, before people stop paying attention to their hype.
They lost a lot of goodwill from people with the whole Collector's Edition debacle (with how little exclusive content it really had, and the Cerberus Network card advertising).
They lost a lot more when it turned out they'd exaggerated the choices that carry-over from ME1 to ME2.
They lost some more from some people (not me, I add) who were disappointed with the Hammerhead and felt that it had been overhyped but was really a very short waste of time.
I still consider myself a fan of Bioware's games, but they really shouldn't waste what goodwill they have remaining by pulling stuff like this. Like I said, there's only so many times you can hype a bunch of crap before people stop believing anything else you want to build hype for.
Now you just went a little bit overboard and some of your claims are debatable, but your right, hype can be poisen at times.
I'm not saying that I personally felt all of the above, but they're all genuine examples that SOME people have objected to. You could also add the "Disappointed by the reduction in traditional RPG elements" folks to that list. All I'm saying is that if they keep hyping things that disappoint a whole bunch of people, eventually EVERYONE will belong to at least a couple of those bunches. Which isn't good.

Harbinger/Reapers: EA
The Collectors: Westwood Studios (Or whatever company it was that EA ruined lol)
Humans: BioWare
Now, we jump to a plot climax from ME2 where we discover what the Collectors really are:
Shepard: "My god, Westwood studios isnt extinct, they just work for EA Games now."
Jump to Miranda's dialog in this same scene: "We are not going to let EA do to us (bioware) what they did to Westwood"
Jump now to the end of the suicide mission:
Harbinger: "Bioware, you have changed nothing...Your company has the attention of those infinitely your greater...That which you know as EA games are your salvation through destruction."
And the end dialog at the conclusion of the Suicide mission must have been related to when they had Westwood Stuidios...
Harbinger: "You have failed....We will find another way....(Referring to Westwood's failure)....Releasing control....(I.e. We're letting you go bankrupt lol)
