Once the news is known, I predict the following will happen:

1/3 will claim the news is the greatest thing ever (regardless of what it is, it could simply be pictures of Bioware devs eating toast)
1/3 will claim the news is the worst thing ever (it could be that ME3 will be released in 2 weeks and has been in development for 2 years and is 3x longer than ME2)
1/3 won't care as they're still making posts in the Tali thread.

What is the other 1% going to do?

99% will be disappointed by the announcement.

The other 1% will prefer this turn of events, Jeff.

You fail so hardcore in this case.

I have 3 people in front of me.  John, Joe, James.
John likes pie
Joe likes cake
James like neither

So, I can say:

1/3 likes pie
1/3 likes cake
1/3 likes neither

I have accounted for everyone.  But to prove that you were incorrect in assuming that somehow I was relating 1/3 to mean a % and not a hard fact number (i.e. 1 out of 3)

33% will like X
33% will like Y
33% will like Z

In that case, that would be 99%, thus missing a 1%

But what in the case of 33.33%?

Then that'd be 99.99%, thus reducing it to a small .01%

Again, that same 1/3 can be broken down even further (according to your assumptions as to what I was somehow foolling myself into thinking incorrectly) in that:

1/3 = 33.333333%

So, now we're at:  99.999999%  So, now your 1% is reduced to 0.000001%

Want me to continue showing that you were wrong in assuming that 1/3 = 99% when you add up all the thirds?  Because like the numerical version of pie (sorry, don't know the ASCII code for it), some assume that pie = 3.14, when in fact, it goes on for a very, very long time afterwards, but like your assumption that 1/3 = 33%, when in fact, that it could go on into infiity.

But that's not what I was saying and you either knew it when you posted and were looking for an argument, or you didn't know better.  Which is the case?  It's easier to admit one than the other.  Which will you chose?

...That was a joke.

Joker: She tries very hard.

Really? I was totally prepared to start calling out the haters who's opinions are worthless and should shut up and be happy that Bioware graces us with anything. I just need that ratings graphic that someone used a while back to show that with ME2's 95% approval ratings, that anything ME2 related, is by association, infallible. Then I can properly display my PROOF that these whiners suck.

I'm pretty sure Bioware would be happy to have the contest open to everyone if it were possible, but it's probably something legal (like lottery/contest laws) or agreements with the sponsors that has kept it limited to the US.

Why do you guys feel obligatedto get all this free stuff anyways? Bioware certainly has no obligation to you past the original product. If you guys are just going to complain when Bioware tries to do nice things like this, they'll probably stop doing it altogether.

Really?  I thought we had soundly proven that ME 2 sucks because of the graphic filter.

Good point, only wish British devs did something similar so we could have a chance to enter something, I hate contest laws. Nice prizes though, as much as it pains me to talk of them.

Its not the free stuff issue. We like content for DLC. This the things which makes most people happy. I mean, yeah it is really cool you can try to bid for it, but seriously there probably more than a billion people in the U.S. and canada who can get it and only 400 something people can get the prizes. Trust me its not easy to go over well. Now if they had offered a discount for like a 14 days on their merchandise. I think everyone would have been like AWesome, but its not a discount so yeah.

Its stil something nice, but bioware is world wide now. Now if they had a contest for DLC. I think it would have been cool. too.

It's more the fact that they promised and hyped an "epic community event" and then promptly excluded most of the community from the event. The contest is fine, but they didn't need to hype it as being for the community, complete with Big Damn Countdown, if it was going to be restricted. I mean, OF COURSE everybody else is going to be disappointed. It'd be stupid to think otherwise. Obviously they should have told the rest of the world that it wasn't for them BEFORE they got the rest of the world excited for it.

First of all it is more likely to do with the cost of shipping the items than any legal problems.
Secondly the countown should not have been put on their global website when it really only pertains to a certain group.  At the very least it should have been announce that it was only for the States.  Plus they indicated it was a community event and failed to specify that it was only for a portion of that community.

I wonder what the devs are thinking of the ever so negative reactions....

Probably nothing...Given the fact that they did something so obviously retarded and labled it "Epic" speaks for their judgement.  In fact, they're probably laughing right now, coming up with their next "epic fail" scheme lol.

reminds me of the speculation on what was going on in the bioware's conference room when they decided hoe to handle Liara in ME2

Agreed.  Given, Im not a Liara fan to begin with...But what they did to her in ME2 is far worse than what she was in ME1.  Seriously, given this failed event, I am seriousy scared for the future of ME3.  There is a high probability now that it will suck....severely IMO

here's my speculation of what happened that  morning at the 10 am meeting

the lights come back on after playing the Liara segment [i]

-Project Leader: and so this is how we are going to handle Liara
-Random Employee: uhm......am I de only one that thinks most of the players will feel like that was not Liara and that they were just given a giant middle finger punctuated by the non aknowledgement of any romantic involvment?
-Project Leader: yes, yes you are now you go get us coffee while we high five one another anticipating the tracking of the cheetorz....oh and while you are there look for the guy who complained about  the stripped down mechanics, the Defense VS Biotics and the squadmates customization....I sent him to get doughnuts over an hour ago

It's not fair that BW excludes ANYONE.........should be for all fans everywhere, they should have realized that  those that are excluded would be pissed, did they not care, that sucks
