Im having a problem with the firewalker missions.
Not sure if it really counts as a tech support problem or not but the controls are all wrong.
Like the mission/game tells me to hit LEFT SHIFT to "jump" the Hammerhead and left shift doesnt do anything the E key appears to be the "jump" key on my keyboard.
Similarily it says "press right mouse button to search" for the research stuff over the yellow target. All Right Mouse Button does is zoom the camera in and out in my game. Ive not been able to find the correct key for this on my own.
Its very annoying.
Anyone know how to sort this out? Know what the correct keys are? Why the game says one thing when its completely not true?
Anyone else found this?

Yeah even if you've never touched your keybindings in the game, the so-called default keys for the hammerhead control don't match the ones they tell you to use in the tutorial.
Apparently if you go to Options -> keybindings and hit 'reset to defaults' it fixes it. If you don't want to reset all your keys, then just go into your Keybindings and scroll down to the section that lists the controls for the Hammerhead. Change them to whatever you like there.

Don't know why it says what it does (mine says the same thing) but if you look under the 'key mappings/controls' in the options screen then you can get a correct map of what key does what.

From the ME2 1.01 Update Notes:
"It is recommended that players reset their keyboard mapping to default values to ensure proper vehicle control."

Frankly, I find it rather annoying that the preset key bindings and the "default" key bindings aren't the same... At least the problem is easy enough to figure out and fix. And it doesn't stop the Hamerhead from being the most awesome hovertank ever.

Maybe this should be a sticky. I thought the missions was bugged. Almost gave up, before googling. It was mere chance that brought me to this topic.
I don't read patch notes. Steam patches automatically, so I don't see the notes. Heck I didn't even know that it had updated.

The problem is that even people who have never changed the key bindings have to 'reset' them to avoid this problem. Couldn't the patch have forced a reset? With notification and explanation of course ;-)

I think there is more to this than resetting the keyboard mapping to default. I've tried it and the collect data key (right mouse button) still isn't working. Has anyone who had this problem actually solved it successfully?

Press the "V" key to mine/collect data.

I'd read that before and tried it. No dice. What next?

Solved it. You have to hold down the key until the research is completed. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. The help message, the one that tells you to press the wrong key when you have the keyboard remapped, certainly doesn't mention it.
