I think your missing the point of the complaint about it being too short. I think many of us did indeed have emotions invested in the characters we developed in DAO. I really wanted a story that would carry my toon to new parts of her life. But, instead she became a quest bot. You simple can't produce a game to start that allows you to make really interchange with other players and then take that part away. I certainly would have paid every bit as much for a game that engaged me as DAO did.

agreed... totally

I was thinking it a fairly decent game until my solo run through character (refused all teammates) was in a cutscene where the whole team was there behind me... how painfully immersion killing it was.

Well, look on the bright side, maybe all their really talented people are helping with Star Wars. Perhaps they had some more inexperienced developers and interns working on this expansion and the Fire Walker downloadable content for ME2.

1. No campground or teammate conversations no relationships.
2. Game is too short, by the time you get your teammates together the game is practically over. You have no time to really have fun with each of your teammates.
3. new crafting skills are worthless since the game is so short.
And because you cannot control your teammates at your base it makes using the crafting skills more difficult then it should be.
4. And a plot and storyline that lead me to believe were in for future ad-on rip-offs.
If you could have added all the things in this so called expansion to the main game it would have extended its play and made it much more fun. Why didn't you do that?
It's like a big fat mod not a true expansion. I think the business suits took over and could see a great way to suck some more money out of the fan base.
One can only hope the player reviews give you a shock wake up as to what you did wrong and you're asking ourselves why in the world did we do this.
I will not be purchasing anything else until long after it has been released no more jumping, thinking I'm getting something good and honest from the developer.

i agree 100% with the OP. I bought awakening and feel quite disappointed, it just doesn't have teh same feel as the original. The story makes little sense and the new companions have hardly any personality. I finished it in about 15 hours and I can't say I see much replay value compared to the original. I really enjoyed Origins and still find it entertaining on subsequent replays but awakenings just seems to fall short in so many ways.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and this is just mine but I think I will wait before I jump in expecting the same standard of game.

Also being in Australia yay for EB Games 7-day period I can get my money back! I will gladly uninstall awakening and enjoy origins :)

I have enjoyed the story thus far, and like that the Hero of Ferelden gets more recognition than a newly created character.

The Expansion is a bit disappointing in the pace of which the tale is told, as it seems rather hurried. One seems to jump from one small quest to another with little time for reflection.

A point of minor irritation has been the seemingly neglected ties from the conclusion of the original game. In my only observed case, my Elven mage used his Royal boon to free the Circle, yet the Expansion seems to hold a lot of quests involving apostates, and has the Chantry still ruling over the mages. The largest kink in this specific tie appears from Wynne, who was in attendance when I gained the boon.

I have chosen to play it all as what will best benefit the character, but this shoves him OOG and has me as the Player using meta-gaming info to make choices. And this seems off for an immersive RPG title.

A smaller complaint comes in the form that certain paths seem restricted to a single path for success. For example, it seems from posts seen here on the forums that Sigrun must have her personal quest introduced before another quest is gained in the city. As I had already cleared the city, I chose to return to an earlier save in order to avoid any possible complications.

With what I have seen thus far, I enjoy far more than I dislike, but do hold that the expansion does appear to be overpriced at full retail price for what was gained.
