So is this what it's like now, BioWare?

I was just wondering, is there any particular reason I can't purchase the exact amount of points required to download your DLC, other than the fact that you want more money from customers without actually delivering a product?  Because, you know, I'd actually buy something if it wasn't for this idiotic point system which forces me to purchase more points than necessary.

Just checking.  I want an official response.  If I do not get one, I will consider the answer to be "we are money-sucking scumbags who care nothing for our customers and we deserve nothing but prologned, painful deaths".

Just for clarification: I don't mean to personally insult anybody in particular.  However, I find it downright infuriating that the only way I can actually buy something (which I wish to do in order to support some of my favourite game developers) is by spending more money than what the content itself costs.  If I wanted to give away money for free, I would just PayPal some of the BioWare staff a donation.

I have 240 or 260 points (don't remember exactly) that even if I buy a dlc, I end up with some left over no matter what I do.

Thank you for not providing an official response, BioWare. I am glad that you were able to clarify this matter.

For your excellent support, I will no longer be purchasing EA or BioWare products.  Additionally, I will urge all of my friends and peers to avoid doing so themselves.

To Seanrox:

I understand your frustration. However, I feel that the rather rude way in which you worded your first post might have to do with the lack of response.

Also, I have purchased Warden's Keep and Return to Ostagar for the PC and I only needed to spend the exact amount of money. I paid with Paypal.

I am looking at the Bioware Points Checkout page right now and I see the purchasable amounts as:

5 dollars (RtO price)

7 dollars (Warden's Keep)

10

15

I am unsure why you are forced to buy more points than necessary. If such is still the case then I agree that indeed it is a serious inconvenience. Anyway, it is not my duty to assist anyone regarding this matter as I am just a gamer, but good luck to you.

Telling them that they needed to die horrible deaths was brilliant. I don't know why they wouldn't respond to threats.

He's referring to the Mass Effect 2 Alternate Appearance DLC (seen here: http://masseffect.com/info/dlc/) that costs 160 Bioware points, and thus has no way to buy the exact amount. Indeed, you'd have to pay over double the actual amount and likely be doomed to having useless, uneven points from then on.

His post was very inflammatory and should have been worded as a discussion/request for additional point intervals rather than angry rage, but he has a valid reason to be upset, in my opinion. Even if I thought three reskins (only one of which I'd actually want) was worth 160 points, I'm certainly not going to pay $5 for 400 Bioware Points and hope it'll even out down the line.

If I wanted to do that I'd use Xbox/Windows Live.... <_<

This is true.  However, I would argue that it actually has far more to do with EA/BioWare simply not giving a flying **** about anything their community says.

There is a reason for my use of such language: it is because I am highly dissatisfied.  I have been a BioWare fan for years, have purchased several of their games, and have invested hundreds of hours into enjoying them.  I still enjoy their games.  However, these downright shady business practices, "community events" that are far more about marketing and harvesting user data than they are about the players, lack of community involvement regarding things like technical issues and crippling bugs, and downright pathetic official channels for feedback and support that seem more concerned with shutting users up than actually addressing issues, have all added up to the point where I am now more than just slightly frustrated.  It's not even that there have been problems that is the issue - it's that there is almost no acknowledgement that there are issues in the first place, nor is there any reassurance that they will be corrected.

I hold an emotional attachment to the great experiences BioWare have crafted, and it seems like in a few short months they have decided to do everything in their power to destroy the positive reputation and bond they had with me.  This is not an isolated incident - their community at large has expressed the exact same sentiment, and yet we see nothing done to remedy it, only further mistakes.  The simple fact is, if they are going to treat me and the rest of their fans poorly, I see no reason not to treat them poorly.
