Can't you guys use tokens on other stuff? Or did you pre-buy them in anticipation for the "event."

Well that would be really nice, thing is we're still waiting on some sort of explanation, they could say they forgot to specify it was US only, they could say the tokens can be used for other stuff later, they could say a lot of things but they haven't.

Could be they'll have an early meeting tomorrow....

"Well gents and ladies, we've fracked up, what shall we do about it?"  I'd just like some sort of damage control, or at least you know communication to their community, if we're worth a 'contest' we're worth talking to? :?

Communication? hmm...I wouldn't hold your breath. Good luck with the thread everyone. Its turning into quite a marathon protest. I'm impressed. I'll check it in the morning before I go to work to see the page # you guys are on.

I have no problem with a contest that is only open to US residents. Had this been announced without the countdown, I suspect the reaction would have been the same as the "Canadians only" contest they had a couple of months back, ie "Wow, that sounds awesome, too bad I'm not Canadian."

But I do feel more than a little betrayed by the sudden volte-face. A supposedly epic event is announced, and then revealed to apply only to certain people as determined by geography. I will certainly be treating BioWare's future announcements of 'good news coming' with scepticism.

I am very disappointed, because I had thought BioWare was above this sort of marketing gimmick.

when will you lamers finally realize that GOVERNMENT REGULATION is to blame?? it's not even legal to have contests and giveaways in countries like Canada.

Yes, it is legal to have contests and giveaways.  Ask any Canadian what "Roll up the Rim to Win" is.  Hint:  It's a 'contest', in which free stuff is 'given away' to winners.

Edit: Entering the words 'contest' and 'Canada' into google would have immediately demonstrated the inaccuracy of your belief.

Ok, here is what we have gathered.

FACT- Shipping and contest regulations had nothing to do with this (Eg. shipping to Australia from the US is pretty cheap...anyone that buys off Ebay can tell you that, and there are sooo many contests here).

FACT- They have gone quiet and have made NO move to help their situation, thereby signifying their own guilt.

FACT- They have effectively labeled us "non-community", and in the situation like this, a good lawyer could think up an apt way to make them pay (mention racism and the US courts will go into overdrive).

This leaves EA/BioWare with no support and a hell of a lot to explain for.

games of skill like a competition are okay but not "games of chance". you can sorta bypass this by adding a "skill test". still, it's complicated

read this, it explains it much better

This just in. Bioware has apologized to the world community for not including them in the contest. In response, they have offered up a free 5,000 tokens to those who were not originally a part of the contest due to geographic location (original rules and regulations of the contest still apply. See the Bioware Bazaar for additional details).

The one major difference between that event and this one is that event was only for 360 users, so not all Canadians, and there was no epically epic mysterious count down clock for 5 days to ignite the imagination.

And that's exactly what you said, I fail at reading time to end this forum trolling and do some gaming.... lol

First we had the douchebaggery which was the US only Dr Pepper promtional DLC items for Mass Effect 2, now this. Well this really is the straw which broke the camels back isn't it. And I doubt BioWare will listen to this which has been the case for complaints and feedback ever since BioWare ****d itself out to EA. I trully miss the BioWare of Mass Effect 1, Jade Empire and Baldur's gate, I can't even recognize what this company has turned into other than the obvious corporate stooge.

Don't forget the Dragon Age shield, only for NA people. Because it was Alienware...

You guys aren't going to get through the night at this rate. Allow me to help.

Shepard: How about an endorsement?

Bioware: Terrific idea! Here, speak into the microphone.

Shepard: If I wanted an epic event from you guys, I'd....(insert response)

Sorry. left out a word.

It's forums like these that are a conduit for all things I despise in verminous self-righteous head cases like the ones in this thread. Quoting from a post on Kotaku;

"I work for a contest company, the reason that they exclude Florida and New York is because those two states require you to "bond and register" your promotions with those states. Basically, it means that Bioware would have to jump through a bunch of hoops and pay money (or face fines) to the states of Florida and NY. So, New Yorkers or Floridians, blame your states.

As for Canadians, you cannot legally award a prize to a Canadian through a game of chance. Therefore, Canadians are not eligible for a sweepstakes or an instant win promotion. The loophole is a math skill test, which would be complicated and expensive for Bioware to employ.

Basically, Bioware took the cheapest and most reasonable route and avoided Canada, Florida, and New York." - juxtaposed11

It's a promotion, and a very large one at that. What? is there something wrong with that? They do these kinds of things in the realms of feasibility and all anyone can do is complain. It makes me wonder why I even bother, trying to bring sense and logic to the idiots on the internet who couldn't probably even spell "logic."

*Face-palms his head through three solid concrete walls

That, my friend, was a good call.
However if BioWare was involved, it would sit there drooling and staring at Shepard.
