It's forums like these that are a conduit for all things I despise in verminous self-righteous head cases like the ones in this thread. Quoting from a post on Kotaku;

"I work for a contest company, the reason that they exclude Florida and New York is because those two states require you to "bond and register" your promotions with those states. Basically, it means that Bioware would have to jump through a bunch of hoops and pay money (or face fines) to the states of Florida and NY. So, New Yorkers or Floridians, blame your states.

As for Canadians, you cannot legally award a prize to a Canadian through a game of chance. Therefore, Canadians are not eligible for a sweepstakes or an instant win promotion. The loophole is a math skill test, which would be complicated and expensive for Bioware to employ.

Basically, Bioware took the cheapest and most reasonable route and avoided Canada, Florida, and New York." - juxtaposed11

It's a promotion, and a very large one at that. What? is there something wrong with that? They do these kinds of things in the realms of feasibility and all anyone can do is complain. It makes me wonder why I even bother, trying to bring sense and logic to the idiots on the internet who couldn't probably even spell "logic."

Now...here is a question for you...what about ALL the other countries that were cut out?

Thanks for coming through where BioWare reps have failed but no thanks for your attitude.

BioWare has run sweepstakes in Canada before. Asking the winner a math question is not 'complicated or expensive.'

Drug fiends and a criminal genetic pool?

Maybe Bioware should just douse themselves in gasoline and set themselves on fire.

First we had the douchebaggery which was the US only Dr Pepper promtional DLC items for Mass Effect 2, now this. Well this really is the straw which broke the camels back isn't it. And I doubt BioWare will listen to this which has been the case for complaints and feedback ever since BioWare ****d itself out to EA. I trully miss the BioWare of Mass Effect 1, Jade Empire and Baldur's gate, I can't even recognize what this company has turned into other than the obvious corporate stooge.

Don't forget the Dragon Age shield, only for NA people. Because it was Alienware...

LOL I don't think it was restricted to North America because I just went to the site threw in some random things for the info it wanted and hit the "Where's mah code" button and I was done. I'm fairly sure anyone could have done that. Hell I don't even own a PC version of DAO because I haven't been shot in the head nearly enough times to start throwing money at broken products but I got the shield LOL. So yeah, that's your fault for not throwing in some random info thell the site you live in the US and ask for a free code.

Okay I'm really, really leaving for real now, but before I do so: we're not upset BECAUSE THIS IS US ONLY, WE ARE UPSET BECAUSE THE HYPE NEVER INDICATED IT AS SUCH.

If someone wagged the best candy in the world you love in your face and then tell you can't have it, what would your reaction be? Try to wrap it around your head around this for those who just came in and did not anticipate anything, or can't grasp this very simple universal phenomenon.

 I know I've seen skill testing questions like (6+8) x 2. Its a pretty sad excuse if true.

 Tes the rage comes from...

a) They had a ****ing timer on every website they host, along with the title EPIC COMMUNITY EVENT.
B) The event sucked balls. Its basically viral marketing.
c) It failed to include any fans not in the US.
d) They stfu and hid rather than respond.
e) This forum will be loaded with stealth re-directs till the ****ing thing ends.

Cool.

Note to those considering posting as Tesla just did:

If you weren't aware, this Bazaar was originally advertised as an "Epic Event" with a "Countdown" shown to everyone who viewed their BioWare profile, regardless of whether or not they live in the U.S.

Merchandising giveaways alone are not worth getting upset about, no. Although I do find them pretty tacky and kind of hate them on principle.

But the point here is that people were hyped and misled into believing there was an "Epic Community Event" for the "Community"... and it's turned out to be a U.S. marketing hijink. It's lame. I think it's hysterical. And some people are upset. It's all pretty understandable, so unless you're a troll, you might want to reconsider the disparaging remarks to those who might have legitimate gripes.

Here's the math question for Canada:

12 + (10 - 3) = ?

Technically, if you give money or 'big' prizes away for free in a game of chance in Canada it's classified as a lottery, which has to be government-run. But a contest can have a 'skill testing question' as simple as the one above (which I took from a McDonald's contest from awhile ago) to get around this. Small prizes don't normally require the question be answered; I've won a few donuts and coffees, and a hat, without answering any questions. A car or a cash prize would be different, but in practice nobody bothers for little things.

I find it a little difficult to believe that a number of fast food restaurant chains have mastered the 'skill testing question' in a way that BioWare was unable to. The conclusion I draw is that they just couldn't be bothered, which I find disappointing.

Anyways, as much as this sucks, I can just imagine all the Canadian employees in Bioware Edmonton facepalming their grandmothers right now... EA knows how to make people hate on them. Stupid corporate baboons.

Its easier for some people to convince themselves that others are whining over issues that are "more easily defendable".

While some are complaining because they can't join the contest, if you take a look through the 70 first pages it is clear that the large majority of us non-US & Florida & New York community members got annoyed that Bioware built up this hype and now feel cheated, after waiting 5-6 days for some kickass announcement, like Starcraft 2 was and also that it seems Bioware is telling only US-residents are considered community.
