I don't understand why you people keep spamming this here.. it's not like anyone here is going to be fooled by it. :?

I agree, I think these spam links to the games are getting really annoying.

I feel bad that many people got cut from this and I know they feel betrayed, but that doesn't change the fact that this thing is happening and I'm going to compete. BioWare/EA isn't going to change anything about this, so life goes on. It's not healthy to dwell over this.

And I know it's been less than 24 hours since this news broke and it's still shocking and upsetting to everyone, but if everyone was eligible than everyone would be posting up ther url's.

Me doing so isn't in a disrepectful way, I'm just trying to gain as many tokens as I can so I can win an N7 Hoody. I don't have the money to buy one right now, so I'm looking at this as a perfect opportunity to get one. One man's loss is another man's fortune.

EA might not change anything on *this* marketing ploy. Its already been put into affect. By supporting it all you do is give them basis to continue to do it over and over again. If you feel it isnt disrespectful thats your opinion. I think its wrong. But thats my opinion. You are the perfect EA Lemming being distracted by the carrot dangling on a string. Or in this case Mass Effect Swag. I have another shirt you can have too...

Bioware aren't responding for one of two reasons, or possibly, both:
The first is that they do not wish to address the community whilst tempers are high. The community is angry, and anything they say (even if it's intended to placate people) will just end in more angry posts. Bioware are probably still internally asking questions themselves as to how this actually happened, who is responsible, and how they can go about not repeating this farce in the future. As others have said, this is probably the result of Bioware being a facade for their owners, EA.
The second is that it seems to be completely standard for Bioware to ignore its community. Chris Priestly and Stanley Woo will, on occasion, chip in to inflame or mislead people in obscure ways - but never will you get a straight answer from either of them. They've both had decades of experience dealing with people over the internet, and their speech is always shrouded in political hyperbole. The more unfortunate thing is that the community managers would have been directed not to say anything. As much as I’m sure both Chris and Stanley sympathise with the situation, they’re powerless to change it and are more than likely not in any position to respond in any way as advocates for Bioware as a whole.
So, when you take this whole situation in to consideration and look at Biowares' history with such matters, we've got two chances of receiving a response at this point: somewhere between stuff-all and none. Don’t expect one.

I think you're absolutely, totally and completely right...  The voice of reason, even.  All I would like is a simple "sorry".  No swag, or free DLC, just a simple apology.  Is that so much to ask?

In Alberta Canada and Montreal Quebec it's the middle of the night. I would venture out and assume that it's similar in Austin Texas also.

Also with the behavior on the forums why would they respond. It's only going to create and cause more backlash at this point in time.

Apparently... yes...
They wouldn't let this topic rise for about 100 Pages if they had the intention of doing something...

And in regards to the first reason... if they have problem to discern how this happened... then there is a lot more wrong with them than just this contest...

By staying silent (and they had enough time to make an apology before) they only make it worse...

Soooo, basically, you're saying that it *is* too much to ask.  It still seems like a terrible PR blunder to let people rage on and on, instead of saying "We're sorry, guys, we didn't think it would be this much of a deal, we're going to try to think of ways to make it up to you".  Heck, they don't even have to make it up to us, a simple admission that they didn't think ahead would be enough, I think.

An apology wouldn't even matter. To me anyways.  Don't care what they say.

My problem is they spent all this time setting up all this bazzaar crap and money for the prizes, when they could have used that money to pay someones pay check to fix game problems.  And they could take the guy with this idea Fire His Ass and hire another programmer or something.

My hope is the heads at BioWare have seen this PR nightmare and went up to Bid Daddy EA and said We told you this was a mistake. Look at the hell you unleashed. Let us fix this OUR way, or else you just signed our death warrats. Maybe come tomorrow they'll come back and stuff like Kasumi and other DLC will be free now and an apology for EA royal SNAFU.

Its highly unlikely but it'd be nice.

If they made the DLC free... the people who already payed for it. Would be the new group of pissed off people.

I see what you mean.  And I can't argue with you.  Still, admission of guilt is always the first step.

**Sigh**  We can only hope!  I don't really care about free DLC, I just wish they'd say... something, anything, really.  (but yeah, "sorry" would be nice...)
Gosh, I'm starting to sound like a broken record.  Sorry, everyone, I'll be quiet, and go play Baldur's Gate or something...:D

Whilst I agree with you in principle, I don't know how you'd quantify $62,908.40 worth of fixing game problems. I guess you could take the average developers' pay-check and find out how much $62,908.40 is in man hours, and I'm sure Bioware have some idea of how many man hours it would take to fix any given issue.

To you or I, 60-something thousand dollars seems like a lot of money. How much that is in terms of game development and bug fixing I really do not know; and hey, it's not like bug fixing and celebrating Biowares' 15 year anniversary need to be mutually exclusive.

So can you explain why DLC would need to be free because people were exluded from a contest?

At most, they will apologize for poorly planning out hte "Eipc Community Event" explain why and what happened, let people rage until we as a community revert to re-canabalizing each other and the lock the threads and move on.

Kasumi and further DLC hasnt been released yet. The only DLC thats really cost money is the alternate costume pack. The Cerberus Network is still free for new game purchase, and thus everything that comes with it.

I think people also took me to literal with the use of DLC as only an example of a way to correct the error caused.

It's the apologists like you that encourage that behavior. You'll always find a rationalization.
