That chart is full of FAIL.

1st the high point of bioware is by far KotOR, 2nd ME2 got extremely close to being as epic as KotOR and DAO was amazing but the ME1 story was mediocre at best. Awakening was also through the roof awesome and full of win. So BioWare is extremely close to their all time high KotOR at the moment though the community event is a pretty sweet april fools.

Yeah. Because you're wrong.

The Baldur's Gate Series was better than KotoR. KotoR was an amazing game but it also represented the first step towards mediocrity that Bioware took; the same step that brought us Jade Empire - which was total **** - and Mass Effect. Personally I think that Mass Effect had a better story, better RPG content and better delivery - outside of some weakness in the combat and vehicle system - than ME2 did. ME2 was more like a ****ty amalgamation of Halo and Gears of War, with a contrived mess of a story thrown in for good measure. Dragon Age Origions was no where near the game that Neverwinter Nights of Baldur's Gate 2 were; it stank of the same mediocrity that infested Mass Effect and Jade Empire.

Not saying that Bioware games aren't good; I am however saying that they lost something a while back and their games have gone fro being genre classics to average PC games/good console games. Sadly no one seems to know how to do any better, so we have to make do with it.

Bioware is no where near being, "extremely close to their all time high," in KotoR Baldur's Gate 2 at the moment. They're a long way off. Don't mistake your obsession with over-hyped, average games, with an ability to identify what makes an amazing game.

I bet you're an Assassins Creed fan as well.

For some reason this entire thing makes me feel like Udina.

"I demand action!" *Fistclench*

Right, now I'm determined to get out of this thread and go to sleep.

Hate... so delicious.

Anyway the best thing they could do is to say "sorry we made a mistake free hugs and cookies to everyone!" If they say its a april fool thingy everyone will know they are lying.
Sadly we wont get a "sorry" because asking a big corp to say sorry is like asking them to cut the 3rd leg off...

Too bad... :(  Cookies and hugs sounds nice... [smilie]http://siona512.free.fr/Smileys/Cookie.gif[/smilie]<3

Why don't we try to keep it civil?  People and tastes differ, and while I do believe that the Baldur's Gate series was pure awesomeness, I also enjoyed KotOR, Mass Effect and....  ***gasp*** Assassin's Creed.  Yeah, you read me right.  So let's just keep our cool, and accept that different people like different games, yes?

Agreed that the reaction is over the top but in all honesty would you expect anything less from an Internet, fan based forum ? They should have known better. Obviously people are not entitled to anything, but it is well within their rights to express their dissatisfaction. Bioware did handle this poorly any way you twist it. That is also their right of course.

That is exactly what entitled mean:

The right to something, I feel as a fan I have the RIGHT to express my opinion.
I feel I have the RIGHT cause they advertised their "community event" as just that, the WHOLE community.
Since I am (now used to be) a part of said community, I would NORMALLY be entitled as a member to respond in kind.

Hence depending on how things are viewed, yes WE ARE ENTITLED.

See it is all about how they messed up, had they put up a disclaimer in the hype counter that " Note: US members only", then I and other would not have been ENTITLED to say we were duped.
As it is yes, we are entitled.

Hope I illustrated the difference, it is all semantics.

It's time for an apology I guess.

And I sincerely hope for BioWare, that they don't try to talk this down to an early Aprils Fool joke, ...

Please don't back seat mod me, tell me to be civil and then go on to do exactly what I did, only in less words. It makes you look silly and it's patronising ;-) If that was your intention, well done. I get the impression that it wasn't however ;-)

I didn't say that KotoR, ME1 or even Assassins Creed weren't enjoyable games. If you read what I said I clearly stated they were average-to-good games that gave enough enjoyment to warrant playing. I did however contest that Bioware were close to their pinnacle in BG2, which was what the guy claimed. And if he has a right to express that in the strong terms that he did, I have the right to express a counter-opinion in equally as strong terms.

I didn't swear, I didn't insult his mother or his family, OR draw his sexuality into question. I just outlined a counter-opinion. There's nothing uncivil about that.

By the way...

The CERN wants to start the collision experiments today...

Here's the Live (?) Webcast:

So either way we are getting an apology soon or it could be that BW/EA don't have a lot time left ;)

You're really pretty ignorant, aren't you?

Pretty much everyone outside the 48 states of America that is a fan of Bioware is gutted right now... atleast I haven't heard many (as in non-existant) non-americans agree with this...

Just the ones who didn't look at the page and think to themselves, "Another contest I can't enter, oh well" then moved on. Have any of you ever been excluded from an promo event before? It happens. I get the whole dissapointment over the counter, but some of the replies in this thread are just comical.

Any really comparing to the outraged people here to the Tali-mancers?
You really do want to get lynched.

The Tali fans hold some really high count threads. They clearly must make up the majority of the community here.

@ Samurai Smartie

I noticed that as well, but didn't think anything of it. Also every other thread relating to the countdown was locked down by Chris very quickly, before things had gotten warmed up. I love a good conspiracy and there does seem to be a few things like that, that seemed odd...

however. I fear the only conspiracy here is that people in Marketing really do believe the community only exists in the USA.

It's interesting to note that this thing was most likely EA's idea (most of the things going on 'around' the games are handled by the publisher), yet Bioware is getting chewed out by the fans when something like this happens. EA's in a good spot - they can make controversial or bad decisions like this, and only receive a fraction of the fallout that comes of it.

Ah, you want to actually get down to LITERAL meaning of the word.

Well then you're right, ONLY Americans are ENTITLED to this contest.

You're ENTITLED to your opinion, and I am ENTITLED to mine.

Don't be such  a nuthugger about Bioware that you have to retort with semantics, anyone can figure out what I and others mean.

You have made it quite clear what you mean. You feel hurt because you were exluded. And that you feel that gives you the right to act like a child and be derogatory to others.

It still doesn't factuate any argument you have that you are entitled to anything. So as much as your entitled to have your opinion, I am just as entitled to tell you it's wrong when you post it on the forums.

Nope, I think I understood what you meant.  I think it's difficult to argue exactly where the pinnacle is, since gaming is so different today, compared to what it was a few years back.  Baldur's Gate may very well have been the pinnacle of PC gaming, and Mass Effect may very well be the pinnacle of console gaming.  Things change and evolve, and my point is that we just might not have enough hindsight to judge.  Back in the 80s, we said Roc 'N Rope was the pinnacle of gaming on the ColecoVision, and yet, who remembers Roc 'N Rope (aside from me).
And don't tell me that the "I bet you're an Assassin's Creed" fan wasn't patronizing... ;)
