Please don't back seat mod me, tell me to be civil and then go on to do exactly what I did, only in less words. It makes you look silly and it's patronising ;-) If that was your intention, well done. I get the impression that it wasn't however ;-)
I didn't say that KotoR, ME1 or even Assassins Creed weren't enjoyable games. If you read what I said I clearly stated they were average-to-good games that gave enough enjoyment to warrant playing. I did however contest that Bioware were close to their pinnacle in BG2, which was what the guy claimed. And if he has a right to express that in the strong terms that he did, I have the right to express a counter-opinion in equally as strong terms.
I didn't swear, I didn't insult his mother or his family, OR draw his sexuality into question. I just outlined a counter-opinion. There's nothing uncivil about that.

Nope, I think I understood what you meant.  I think it's difficult to argue exactly where the pinnacle is, since gaming is so different today, compared to what it was a few years back.  Baldur's Gate may very well have been the pinnacle of PC gaming, and Mass Effect may very well be the pinnacle of console gaming.  Things change and evolve, and my point is that we just might not have enough hindsight to judge.  Back in the 80s, we said Roc 'N Rope was the pinnacle of gaming on the ColecoVision, and yet, who remembers Roc 'N Rope (aside from me).
And don't tell me that the "I bet you're an Assassin's Creed" fan wasn't patronizing... ;)

The, "I bet you're an Assassins Creed fan," was an amusing comment. If it patronised you or whoever else, it's because you obviously feel stupid for being an Assassins Creed fan :bandit:

And to say that PC gaming has changed is an obvious statement; it's not that fact that it has changed that is in debate but HOW it has changed and what effect that has had upon gaming. For example, Baldur's Gate 2 and Neverwinter Nights had a lot of quite difficult puzzle content, class specialisations were very involved, game mechanics were important, gear had more than 2 stats and there was a large array of classes and prestige classes. Compare those games - and their complexity in that regard - with the current generation and you can quite clearly see a large gap in the two, with the latter being very simplistic in comparison.

There has been a massive simplification of the RPG genre right across the board. I mean take a look at the aforementioned titles. Also look at Bethesda' games; compare Oblivion to Fallout 3 and you can see that Bethesda took concise steps with Fallout 3 to simplify game mechanics, shrink the world and make the game far more linear. They even admitted to it. Of course I don't really need to mention World of Warcraft. Take a look at what is happening in Diablo 3 for example with the removal of stat point allocation, capped talent trees and pots. Some would argue that it's simply the removal of excess baggage but I would argue - as many did after Mass Effect 2 - that these things add depth and functionality to game play in RPGs.

We all look at the current style of RPGs in Dragon Age and Mass Effect and enjoy them endlessly. And I am not saying they don't deserve a certain amount of praise; they are very good titles. I don't however think that people can claim them to be amazing RPGs because they just aren't.

Bioware aren't at their pinnacle creatively. Commercially, of course they are.

Actually you can. You don't have to agree with someone to believe they have a right to their opinion. I may not agree with what someone says but that doesn't mean I don't think they have the right to say it.

I hate to say this, but I agree. To quote Voltaire (or rather, Evelyn Beatrice Hall): "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."

I'm not going to rehash this, because it's already been done to death, just a few words, if I may. The only reason I believe that comment to be derogatory is that Assassin's Creed fans are often belittled (not sure why); it doesn't mean that I "feel stupid" at all.
As for the rest of your post, you're pretty much hitting the nail on the head. There *has* been a simplification of RPGs in the last years, for good or for ill. Some argue that the genre is being lost, diluted, to accommodate the masses. Others will say that it's helping the genre by making it available and comprehensible to more people, a larger audience. It's all a matter of perspective. I agree with what you're saying, I just think you could've said it more tactfully. :P

Ah, you want to actually get down to LITERAL meaning of the word.

Well then you're right, ONLY Americans are ENTITLED to this contest.

You're ENTITLED to your opinion, and I am ENTITLED to mine.

Don't be such  a nuthugger about Bioware that you have to retort with semantics, anyone can figure out what I and others mean.

You have made it quite clear what you mean. You feel hurt because you were exluded. And that you feel that gives you the right to act like a child and be derogatory to others.

It still doesn't factuate any argument you have that you are entitled to anything. So as much as your entitled to have your opinion, I am just as entitled to tell you it's wrong when you post it on the forums.

Oh, here we go with the, oh so very popular "childish" remark.

Do you feel like a grown up now? Can't deal with a metaphor?

Nutthugger is urban slag for someone that is overly obsessed about something.
Too me, you're just that regarding Bioware, another word is brown noser.
You don't need to do Bioware's 'battles', playing around with semantics and act like you're on a high horse.

If you feel inclined, I can lambaste you in a "civil and adult discourse".
What you don't seem to get, is that if you rile people up, you will get not so friendly responses in kind.

Btw, contradict much?

As the ball is already rolling on the games side i figured why not:

Call me crazy but I have never liked BG - i have tried to play it through a couple of time both 1 and 2 but i just cant do it. Everything else BioWare has made (more or less) has been gold - and yes i include Jade Empire in that ;P

All people have the right to an opinion on any topic of their choosing. That doesn't translate to having the right to EXPRESS that opinion. The right to expression is earned as far as I am concerned.

Unfortunately the, "Great Levelling," that occurred with the perpetuation, commercialisation and increased usage of the Internet removed many ways of telling if someone HAD earned the right to express their opinions on various subjects; now everyone is an expert and not a soul is ignorant.

While I can quite happily agree that the etnire thing has been mishandled by the powers that be, after looking at the supposed prizes I'm actually quite glad it's for the US players only as 95% of the stuff they are giving away is not exactly anything special.

Oh look a cerberus cap, a poster... whoopdedo. If I wanted the stuff I'd have bought it.

Nope, not yet. If you want to get the sigs to work, just use the bbc code in the "Profile/Forum Settings" of your account, and use the [ img ] [ /img ] tags (without the spaces between the brackets) Just put the URL of the image of your choice between the image tags in the "signature" section, and you're all set (after pressing the "save" button, of course! ;) ).

Sell your soul to the EA Viral Marketing Campaign... You to can drive in style with this N7 Bumper Sticker (regularly priced at $3.99) for only the low low cost of being a pawn in our social networking scheme, and losing your soul and dignity.

You know the more I think about it I kinda understand why this is a US only promotion.... Only us Americans would be gullible enough to fall for this crap.

I don't do tact unless I'm talking to a customer, supplier or my business partner/investors; I have the social skills of an angry, rabid beaver and that is that ;o

And Assassins Creed fans deserve belittling; the game is one of the most repetitive, bland gaming experiences I have ever had in my life.

Post a response without feeling the need to be derogatory and I wouldn't call you childish. The slang you're using only accentuates that point.

What your insinuating is that I care enough about Bioware to fight there battles for them, instead of discussing why you are wrong with your bland assertion that you are entitled to anything.

At your edit: It's not a contradiction. Altho, I can understand why you would say that.
