Stupid US gambling laws.
Just hold the contest in Canada or so instead. I mean, i'm smarting over the exclusion of Europe and the rest of the world, but excluding Canada for this contest is just a plain and painful mistake on Bioware's part.
Or more realistically (since this is EA and they do US-exclusive promotions all the time) just don't deliberately build hype amongst a large number of fans, when you already know you're going to be disappointing them.

See if we'd known it was a US contest sure there would have been one protest thread, but many more of us would have been happy and posting well wishes to our American friends in this thread instead of this communal grumbling. I know I would have.

Its not the fact that we cannot take part in this contest, its more the implication that we are not part of the community. I couldn't care less about country laws objecting to us taking part, Its more the point that they set up a countdown, watched the whole community hype themselves up, and did not bother to once specify that the event would be 48 states only.
Seriously Bioware, you have let down a lot of fans. The only way you can even try to redeem yourselves is by posting one post of apology. But...I guess not.

QFT. This whole thing could have been avoid by just saying seven days ago, "Hey everybody! We have a contest here for US residents, minus those pesky states of New York and Florida."
Seven days I waited. I wasn't hoping for much. Something interesting, a DLC, hell even a book, but a contest which only 20% of the online fanbase (from what we can tell from the polls) can even partake?
Nope. Huge disappointment.

With that aside, I'm quite stoked that I have a chance to win some pretty fookin awesome prizes! Just a bit disappointed that I probably need to be a twitterer or face-planter to be in the running for one of the top prizes.

The sad part is that BW let this happen. They knew damned well prior to the stupid count down being launched most forum members would be screwed over yet built the hype anyway.
I do not mind them doing yet another contest excluding me as a none American I am used to that. Its the way they did the count down as if it actually was for the community not just the special ones in the USA.

Dragon Age - BioWare's Map of the World - EPIC FAIL

Best watched in 1080p HD - also do vote in the poll linked there and read the video description. It's not a hate video... more of a smashed nose video! =)

Probably not until they have all the people responsible into Witness Protection. That's my theory.

Someone will inevitably say EA but I refuse to let Bioware completely off the hook as much as i would like to. They are still their own company, with their own CEO, and still have some say on their marketing.Kenrae wrote...
One would expect more intelligence from their part. Whose idea was that? This is one of the worst marketing moves I've ever seen.

Can't believe there is still no word from bioware, this is the fasted growing thread I have seen on the forum.
Their PRs are probably running around like baboons trying to formulate an appropriate response for this nonsense.

Most say, actually. People now blame EA for everything, it's the perfect situation for Bioware. "I can do whatever I want, they won't blame me anyway".
Besides, they decided to sell, so even if that weren't the case it's they fault too.
