I wonder why it was only north America. Legal issues? I can see some crazy Australian trying to make the argument that this is some form of gambling/commerce, and corrupting their youth. Or ought to be taxed.

Either way, bad idea not to specify beforehand that this was only for certain folks.

As it's now 74 pages since it was posted, I'd like to reignite my campaign to get this as an overheard Citadel conversation in ME3.

Please let me use my 5950 tokens, I will use it honestly and without regret. Just let me buy/win a nuke with it, to blow up those money crazed EA nuggets.

150 Pages... no answer from staff... priceless xD

I think they try to avoid to flame the atmosphere even further.

They're doing it wrong... just sit there and do nothing will not... calm the storm...

Would an apology appease the public? Perhaps a free dlc that supposed to be bought? Well thats not right either.
Sometimes its better to let it go. They did a mistake but cant really fix it, at least not right away.

I'm not sure if this has been posted yet, but I'm definitely not going to sift through 150 pages to find out. The reasoning for the contest only being held in the USA is simple. The USA has this lovely law that says if you hold a contest within the USA, you cannot offer it anywhere else.

So there it is. Is it right? No. Am I trying to justify the decision? No. Just giving out information as to why Bioware won't offer the contest elsewhere. It's because they're not allowed to.

An apology is better then simply sittin' there and ignoring us!

Do they really think all this will suddenly calm down out of nothing?

Do they really think everything will be just forgotten just because they decided to just sit it out?

What amazes me is that no memeber of staff at Bioware/EA queried the logic of advertising a US only promotion with a countdown, and labelled as an 'Epic Community event'! Surely there are people who work in this company with enough common sense to realise that this would just annoy a whole lot of customers.

Why oh why did no one have the sense to add to the counter/epic community event banner, a simple disclaimer stating that the event is only available to members within the US??? Thus avoiding this fallout! Seriously Bioware/EA need to sack some people, becase they are clearly to dumb to be earning a wage.

Well... They had this cool intern who claimed he could create a countdown clock! Everyone was amazed by that idea and he got the green light. He *did* ask what text to use. Convinced by his superior intellect BioWare simply said: "Surprise us". You can't say he didn't surpise us. ;)

In that case, they should've mentioned that the contest was only for Americans and not just call it "epic COMMUNITY event". Or just add a little paragraph explaining why it's being held ONLY in U.S.
