Im curious how well will the Kasumi DLC sell after this failure....
Probably there won't be any significant effects, but I'm sure SW:TOR is set up for failure with an attitude like this towards the gamer community.

As much it would sell before the countdown. We are in this network because we love BW products. This whole event so far is a disaster and we will criticize them in order to raise their standards in marketing section. But thats it.
Example: Personally i hate blizzard but this doesnt mean that i wont buy their products.
You... hate blizzard? WHY???
Milking methods, took them years to start listening to public feedback/ they implemented features that their community was screaming about years later. blizzcon and ghostcrawler. Ok i like ghostcrawler! sort of hehehe
Atleast they KNOW how to organize events (not talking about blizzcon, just community events and contests). This was very unproffesional for a company that makes excellent games and has a name in the industry.
I agree and thats why we are here talking about this matter. To give them enough feedback in order to improve themselves and avoid similar situations such as this. Now, if they wont listen its their loss really.

Watering down their games with **** DLC and now this, I think bioware has finally caught whatever EA has.

I just though I'd mention that in one of Preistley's lockdowns he mentions the massive bazaar thread in the off topic forum which is only about 30 pages....I don't think he is even looking at this one.
So...let´s move there?

They are trying to clean the forums up and stop the fire from spreading... Then they will leave it alone and hope it die out by the looks of it.

When BioWare found out that this epic community event was only open to a small subset of their community they needed to manage expectations at that time.
A simple note saying "Our deepest apologies, EA has hit a legal snafu and this community event will only be open to these 48 states, we were working on something else for the rest of wonderful fans." , would have done wonders.
But they didn't do that.
They allowed excitement to build. They labeled it an Epic Community event. Come zero hour they had another opportunity to talk to the community and tell them about the about the snafu. "Hey due to some legal mumbo jumo with EA this contest is only open to a small subset of the community. We apologize for your dissapointment. We should have communicated earlier but we only found out quite recently. We're working on something special to include all of our community." They didn't say that. They didn't say anything. They simply announced their epic community event.
We found out we weren' t included in the epic community event by reading a legal disclaimer -- we found out in the fine print. We were left with no explanation. No communication. Only that it was being billed as an epic community event but didn't include us.
So many reached the conclusion that since this is an epic community event and it doesn't include us we are obviously not part of the community. (Hence all the nifty banners)
I still love BioWare games. I have had the opportunity to interact with many employees of BioWare and they are wonderful folk.
But we are still lacking in communication.

So the BioWare staff doesn't feel excluded.
Part of me tells me the Edmonton team is no longer deserving of the right to be called Canadian. Just doesn't seem right at the moment.

this whole thing is really intriguing.
Are people upset by the fact that they are ineligible for the promotion, or about the fact that we weren't told beforehand that a great many of us could not participate, the fact that it was hyped up as a community event and many of us (up till now) paying customers feel disregarded...
hmm... I might actually make a poll on this. i have a sociology paper I have to hand in real soon anyway...
Yeah it's the latter. I generally do not enter competitions, and wouldn't have participated even if I were eligible. What annoys/amazes me is the ineptitude of Bioware/EA! There is mass unemployment around the world, and yet here is a company that hires and pays people who think it is good customer relations to falsely advertise to it's customers and then to fall deathly silent when those customers have legitimate concerns.
