beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep

this is a message from the emergency broadFAIL system

what appears to be the largest backup of EPICFAIL ever recorded by man

its strange that the worst cases are centered in Edmonton, Montreal, and Austin.

So far no connection has been found ,but there are mainframs working on it.

we suggest that you stay inside lock you doors buy no means buy any EA games just to be safe.

this concludes the message from your emergency braodFAIL system

beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeb

Well.. when this happens it's sure that they won't get any sweet € from me any more ;)

They won't get any of my £s until they explain why they didn't indicate this was US-only from the start, and apologise for inconveniencing us all.

I have been a huge BioWare supporter for close to 15 years now and the big issue here is communication.

When BioWare found out that this epic community event was only open to a small subset of their community they needed to manage expectations at that time.

A simple note saying "Our deepest apologies, EA has hit a legal snafu and this community event will only be open to these 48 states, we were working on something else for the rest of wonderful fans." , would have done wonders.

But they didn't do that.

They allowed excitement to build. They labeled it an Epic Community event. Come zero hour they had another opportunity to talk to the community and tell them about the about the snafu. "Hey due to some legal mumbo jumo with EA this contest is only open to a small subset of the community. We apologize for your dissapointment.  We should have communicated earlier but we only found out quite recently. We're working on something special to include all of our community." They didn't say that. They didn't say anything. They simply announced their epic community event.

We found out we weren' t included in the epic community event by reading a legal disclaimer -- we found out in the fine print. We were left with no explanation. No communication. Only that it was being billed as an epic community event but didn't include us.

So many reached the conclusion that since this is an epic community event and it doesn't include us we are obviously not part of the community. (Hence all the nifty banners)

I still love BioWare games. I have had the opportunity to interact with many employees of BioWare and they are wonderful folk.

But we are still lacking in communication.

Alodar Posted Image

Agreed. ;)

Communaction Error? Basically they just showed, they give a **** about the people outside that 48 state. Well i give a **** aswell, becouse i would not be interested anyway, but the message is clear.

You are epic stupidity.

No BioWare's PR is epic stupidity.
Maybe there's some "inside" joke behind that kind of "humor", but it's tasteless either way.

Your job is dealing with customers, most of whom are unhappy about something, and you flaunt a Dollar Bill in their face?

Oh, yeah, that's so precious. I think it's gross, sorry if you find that dumb.

But thanks for the insult.

The reason being that the US dollar sign is the same as the Canadian dollar sign.
Hurr!

Also I love how everyone defending them, ea and bw, types these long ass messages that noone will read but the first line then say "f that."  Also it's funny how they try to sound so smart.

So using proper grammer, formatting, and words with more then 3 syllables means someone is trying to sound smart? I do not get it.
Care to elaborate?

The point is still there, regardless of grammatical correctness or spelling, congratulation
on trying to sound lika a pompous ass.

I do not understand it. If they missed the point then explain it to them. Explain that for a week BioWare had been saying "your all invited to this epic event" then once the event starts up they cut out a large section of their fans.

To sit their and insinuate a person is stupid but trying to sound smart because they wrote a post properly makes no sense to me and just looks like kneejerk reaction to someone thats not on your "side".

Like I said explain the point if they missed theres no need to insult them. It does nothing but harm your case.

I am eligible but its a crappy event. I am not going to join twitter or facebook just for this. I am not going to sit on my hands nor do I have the time to watch like a hawk and answer all these questions for the duration.

I can still empathize with those that had the door slammed on their face.

I've just blocked the biofeed from tweeter and reported for spam. That was my way of closing this subject.

End of line.

I have been huge fan of Bioware since Baldur's Gate 1. Yet I have never been part of the community. I hung out with the guys of the NWN Vault for a while, but never been more than a commentator there either. I even helped with testing and solving issues with the Dragon Age Flashgame, which was a very cool thing in regards to social networking stuff.

I follow this topic with a fascination similar to watching a trainwreck - and clear statements (through the lack of them) like these by the Community Management team makes my decision easy!

I am not a part of the community. And now I never will be, because what's the point.

If you hype something to such a level (with multiple uses of the word "EPIC" and a goddamn countdown clock) then you can expect the resulting response (be it positive or negative) to be on a similar level.
Such is life.

God you bunch of whiners, learn how to read before you spout off hate at Bioware. I am not saying it's "right" but you are blaming the development crew, and not the  SPONSOR WHO GIVES AWAY THE STUFF AWAY!

"Sponsor

This Contest is sponsored by Electronic Arts Inc., 209 Redwood Shores Parkway, Redwood City, CA 94065. The Contest is governed by and is in accordance with the laws of the state of California in the United States of America."

Obviously reading isn't a strong point for some, becaues Bioware...A CANADIAN COMPANY would OBVIOUSLY want to alienate THEIR OWN FREAKING COUNTRY. Be mad at the publishers the source of money and control, they dictate how things go, and their subsidiaries just do as they are told. Because it is plain and obvious that Bioware is NOT to blame for this, but EA, so I suggest taking your ranting to their website (www.EA.com) and TELL THEM!

Wow! I honestly didn't know that the Canadian dollar had the exact same pyramid design as the U.S. dollar. Hmm... I suppose I am epicly stupid from not being able to tell the U.S. dollar from a Canadian dollar even though they're the exact same design and I don't live in Canada.

And I guess that makes it perfectly okay then for Chris to be arrogant towards his customers, as long as he's flaunting his proper homeland's currency!

Shame on me.

Would be a nice, somewhat evil way to return the favor if done en masse. This one ranks right up there with "Let's vote against them in the developer contest." and "Let sabotage the auctions by participating in them anyway.".

Still BioWare should simply told us that this is US only! THAT is THEIR fault!
