Guys, enough hatred already. I would appreciate it if all of you could read my previous post and quote it if you agree with it. If there enough of us do, I will forward this to BioWare (or maybe they'll notice it before I have to do that).

Edit: For your convenience, I shall repost my previous post it here:

Alright, time to listen you lowly maggots.

We have raged on for long enough now. It is obvious we won't achieve anything with endlessly ranting and spamming. Thus let us use our powers for good instead of evil.

We know BioWare isn't an unreasonable company, neither is EA. How poor their choice of words to advertise this event may have been, there is nothing they can do to circumvent the laws that prevent a contest such as this one from being held worldwide.

But all hope is not yet lost:

Last year, during the final weeks of ye olde Mass Effect forum, BioWare gave us the
Gift of the Yeti Facebook game. Each play of the game had BioWare raise a penny for gamer children's charity Child's Play, up to a total of $10.000 USD.

What we ask of BioWare is to repeat this act of kindness. To allow not only every ineligible member of the community, but also every willing legible one to donate his or her Tokens to Child's Play. Whatever a single Token might be worth in US or Canadian dollars is up to BioWare (and EA, I guess) to decide, the same goes for the maximum amount of money set aside for donation.

In the end, this solution will likely prove to be the best for each of the involved parties: BioWare/EA can not only set this incident/miscommunication straight, but also get some good publicity out of this. The community members which were not allowed to participate, can participate for a good cause. And let us not forget Child's Play, which will be allowed to help even more children.

We have saved Ferelden from the Darkspawn, we have fought for the lost, now let us Fight for the Children.

They won't respond, they lock other threads and ignore the feedback and complaints of this one. It's the reason they all point us to it, they don't give a damn about it.

Someone should set up an forum on a external site "for ex-community members" and give up these forums. That way, Bioware would lose a hell alot of community members, and the "ex-community" could still talk to each other about Bioware related things in a non Bioware forum. "Valid Community members" could also join in on both forums.

Just an idea...

Kaiser Shepards idea is the best though, however it is unlikely to ever happen.

There's one advantage to being a non-community member: Threads in which lots of them post are great. ;)

Fairness does not exist in the "real" world.

If everyone had the same attitude you have, my people would still be forced to sit on the back of the bus.

If something seems unfair, what's wrong with raising your voice in protest?

Yes because civil rights and equality of a people has anything to do with fairness. No it wasn't the Chinese Government restricting the rights of the Tibetans that caused the backlash for them. It's not the fact that they restrict the civil rights of Chinese citizens. It's because they are just being unfair.

Really, it doesn't take being a genius to get what I'm saying. And no one's comparing this crap EA is pulling to civil rights, really. No one mentioned China or Tibetans. So your response was pointless. My post was, at most, an analogy.

The main point I was making was about fairness in general. If something is unfair, why is it wrong to say something about it? I don't know about you, but I have enough balls to do that. I live in America, and not Florida or NY, but this still has me pretty steamed. (And not just because it seems like a pretty weak marketing gimmick to me.) It's just not fair to the community who don't live in America or happen to live in the wrong part of America. Seriously, if enough people say something about this, maybe it will get changed. But being an apologist for this crap or discouraging complaints isn't going to do squat.

What if there was no count down? No hype. And one day they posted, "US Residents can now have tokens to claim points to win free swag from Bioware!"
Do you think this backlash would have been avoided?
I personally don't think it would have.
People would have still rioted and complained.

I disagree. I don't recall this much unrest as a result of the Canada-only contest. Plus US-only promotions happen ALL THE TIME. Look at the Dr Pepper thing. Frankly, here outside North America, we're used to it.
The only thing different about this time is that we're not normally intentionally hyped up by a company as a result of a week's worth of marketing, only to be told "LOL, DIDN'T MEAN YOU!" at literally the last second.

See - I live in the US and had no idea about the Dr. Pepper promotion. (Could do more with the fact that I don't drink soda... but considering how obsessed I was with Dragon Age - I somehow completely missed the Dr. Pepper promotion). Even still - I wasn't outraged I missed it.

But I still say even without a countdown there would have been a backlash. Because one day you (anyone on here) would have logged onto the site (since I am sure the token thing would have to be community wide and have no way to specify your region of dwelling) - and there's going to be a thing with tokens. And people would begin posting threads like, "WTF is this token thing on my profile now?" And someone would link a single thread, that got no promotion, and it would say "US Only." And people would have been like, "Wait - what's up with that?" (Except phrased as the more common "srsly epic fail bioware" posts).

BIOWARE'S EPIC COMMUNITY COUNTDOWN SAGA - ON YOUTUBE

Once upon a time, BioWare built up hype with a 7 day long countdown to an "Epic Community Event", which turned out to be an event that excluded most of the community.

People had been misled, hyped up for what turned out to be nothing, and were generally angry at the implication that they apparently didn't count as part of the community.

This is their story.

Perhaps set it up as a group/petition, to more easily show a set amount of support for the idea via the number of people who join the group.

Congratulation Bioware.

You manage to fire upon those who support you from long time.
Before to launch such an unfair event, you should have think about it twice and consider carefully to the true meaning of respect you should have due to your fans, like CDPR has done ina perfect way:

That is what I call a fair way to respect fans, regardless origins of everyone.Seen?

Although I agree Kaiser Shepard's idea is excellent, if Bioware is going to ignore 181 pages of angry protests, they are unlikely to agree to his idea.

I was thinking about what Mr Woo said as a reaction to this post...

Stanley Woo wrote...

End of line.

That's our anwer. The thread was locked.

... It looks like it is cool to spam websites with their Bazaar links (in fact BioWare is encouraging it), but at the same time he shuts up anyone who "spams" an opinion about BioWare's rude behavior. That simply does not compute.

I could get on board with that.  I would still like a statement from Bioware...even if it is "screw you"...at least we would know where we stand.  Anyways....I support what I quoted.
