As an American eligible for the contest, I have to say this is a pretty uncool move.  Maybe there are some obscure international laws that prohibit them from extending the contest to the rest of the world.  Maybe Bioware argued with EA, the courts, or whoever to let every country partake.  I'm sure there's a good reason, it's not because Bioware is unrealisticly nationalist, and not even to their own country.

The uncool part is hyping it up like this, with no warning to the rest of the international community about their upcoming ineligibility.  Had their been no countdown, no promise of an "Epic Community Event," then perhaps the backlash wouldn't have been so severe.  It would have been just another silly, exclusive contest.  Those happen all the time.  But the build-up, and the inclusion of the word Community, and then unexpectedly exclude a significant and equally important part of that community?  Not a good move.  The absolute least they could do is provide an explanation as to why the contest is limited to one country.  If they are unable to provide a good reason, then what else are we to assume other than there is no good reason, and the rest of the world is simply being given the proverbial shaft?

To everyone who happens to live in another country, I'm sorry.

Well said!

I really enjoy this. I have a 4 pages paper on some fictive criminal case to do for thursday, but I just can't get my eyes off this thread... Even though I'm from Canada, I take energy from all this suffering.

This is clearly another blatant "fu" from the Office of Foreign Affairs from the USA. It began with Iraq and has now come to bite we, the people of Europe, in the ass.

What A_Shep91and Einhild said.

I would personally buy someone one of the items (Not the computers! I don't have that kind of money!) just as a goodwill step because it's lame that a lot of people don't get to participate. Hell. I'd give away all my token so someone could have one of the items.

Would you allow defectors?   I am in an eligable area, but I am so against this contest that I would gladly give up my eligibility to be able to come along with you all.  If you'll have me.

Sure, anything for you. Image IPB

So, how do you think Bioware will react to all this backlash?

1.) Do nothing, cause that's how little they think of non-Americans

2.) Announce another separate Bioware Bazaar for Canada & Europe

3.) Make the current Bazaar Worldwide

4.) Announce a totally different event for Canada & Europe at a later date

5.) Bioware: "Er...uh...April Fools...?"

a disclaimer saying "only applicable to us residents except NY and florida" would of helped remove alot of this hate they are getting. hell just leaving the count down and not stating "an epic community event" would of helped.

even if it was just a countdown and suprise dlc that i had to pay for i still wouldnt of been as pissed off at them

lock all the other threads from pissed off customers, and ignore how ignored people are and only respond in threads that are positive

If you want to be pissed at Bioware/EA I'm cool with that. But have any
of you looked at laws regarding contests or giveaways in foreign
countries as effected by the laws of the United States?
http://en.wikipedia....iki/Sweepstakes might offer a good start in
understanding... This contest was sponsored by a company in the United
States. That's not to say there is nothing that can be done, but I
frankly don't care enough to find out.

I'm in the United States,
I will participate. THANK YOU Bioware for hosting the Bazaar in the
first place. I am absolutely positive it was not deliberate that any
countries were left out of participating. I am sorry not everyone is
getting included. :(

I would like to say: Seriously what is
wrong with those of you saying [expletive] you, United States! I don't
run around saying "Screw you UK!" or "****** off Canada!". (Really. AND I
love you Canada. You are home to many of my dearest friends.) Could you
please tell me how you can rationally call a company racist and then
bash the entirety of the population of the relatively diverse
(racially, politically, and religiously) country I (sometimes
unfortunately) call home?

Yes please on the European marriage offers. I'm a healthy attractive gamer chick. I dig an accent. ;3

Yes.

But it's pointless posting this here, as some people don't like to think about  a thing a couple of seconds and just want to spam in sheer mindless rage here. Sad but true.

Right about now, if this would have been "Hug a fellow ME2 player and make pictures of it" event, it would have been a WAY better idea than this ;)

Yeah... no actually that sounds like a terrible thing to hide behind a counter.

Bioware should have left the timer until April 1 (12 midnight) and announced "Nothing, Get Out" for their epic announcement.

I would just like to say that all this hype and the counter deserves a HIGH FIVE for their successfull fail.

Ok. But really, I think Bioware had fun with their trolling

+1

I am from Hungary, and I don't give a *** about this absurdity, but it is very funny, how Bioware managed to ****** off the majority of the forum members, and transformed the forum into pure rage. Congratulations to you, Bioware!

Shoo you, you, you rational person you.
This post needs more rage, tears, and self-justified name calling!

I don't have a marriage offer nor an accent, but we can still play house for a bit. ;)

True Zarken wrote...

Everyone I know, people around the world are upset due to being excluded. However you have to think of it in this way...

It is expensive to transport goods around the world. Then you have to get it through customs (I know from experience is the most frustrating thing in the world because I tried bringing a Gateway back from America into Australia) which can cost large amounts of money ($220.95 to get my laptop through customs, meanwhile already spending $1,500 on it) It's all about cost and the money they spend sending all these things around the world equals less money which could be spent on Dragon Age 2 or Mass Effect 3.

I personally prefer it they spent more money on Mass Effect 3 than on sending someone living in...Umm...Uzbekistan (sorry to all the Uzbekistani people I couldn't think of another country and I didn't mean to disrespect to any of you) a cap or t-shirt. But all of us should just take a step back and think about it.

I agree with you entirely, but I would like them to offer the possibility of paying for your own shipping, it wouldn't be incredible, but id do it.

once again I feel let down by a company that just ignores my existence yet is happy to take my money, been a fan since the start, makes me not want to buy another game, not for the comp, but for the lack of care for fans across the globe.

what a waste of my time, i thought it would be a cool game for the whole community, how wrong i was.
