The funny thing is, under normal circumstances, no reasonable person would actually object to the "contest" even if his/her country was excluded. We've seen it before and there is plenty of explanation for it. But once again, it was the way the situation was handled that ranges from comical to ridiculous and even downright pathetic, depending on people's point of view.

So much easier to read posts with sigs like this one B)  I still expect an official answer to this madness.

I can totally understand that people are upset and disappointed because they initially got excited about the event and then found out they couldn't participate in it. That has to suck. It is the nature of the beast that some countries laws are restrictive about these sorts of things and thus some countries would not be willing to participate in such an event, due to their own laws. Unfortunately, it's also very possible that some countries have laws written ambiguously enough that EA might have thought that they would be able to include them only to find out belatedly that the answer was no.

Either way, I can understand being disappointed and upset, what I think is a problem is the way people are throwing around the words "hate" and "EA/BioWare doesn't care for other customers/community members." This is a pretty terrible thing to say about someone, especially an entity made up of lots of someones.

It's also entirely possible that they might be working on something else that can include the rest of the world, as they initially thought this event would include more than just the USA.

I think people should try to take a deep breath and be a little more even in their posts. I definitely think that people should vocalize what and why they are upset, however, as there will be no way to avoid future problems if people don't let the companies know what's up, but do it properly, you only look like an inflammatory troll if you are obnoxious when you post.

Oh, and for haven's sakes people, they said it's a community event, meaning it is not available to those who don't take part in the community, not that it was a Community Wide Event, so if your country isn't included, that does NOT mean you aren't considered a part of the community. That's more than a bit of an overreaction.

Wow. I loved the "To show our appreciation of fan support..." comment. Really lets me know where I stand as a fan of the games living outside the U.S.

It would be interesting to know what type of percentage of Biowares' registered games are owned by people outside the US. I'm sure they'd have figures on that kind of thing. How badly EA cocked this up is baffling.

I was wondering the same thing as I'm pretty sure that the number of people owning BioWare games outside of the US of A outnumbers those from USA.

You'll probably have to consider the density of Bioware owners within areas rather than fan-numbers between countries. In the end the US likely has more owners packed closely together than anywhere else and so having an event there just makes sense.

29 pages....over 2 hours. Still no official response. I mean...just stick your head in and say, "We're looking into it" or "We can't change anything, but sorry for the mix-up"

BW don't do that kind of thing, they will just be silent and hope it will go away quickly.
