enjoy

Aren't sweeds, danes and norwegians europeans?

We are Scandinavians, not that it makes any difference in BW's eyes mind you.

So....they can figure out how to work the various state laws and international laws for one contest but not another?  It's not like BW/EA is just one dude working out of his mom's basement.

Cat Lance wrote...

Guys, the countries and states that are excluded, I am fairly certain, are not participating due to their OWN laws regarding contests. No one at EA/BioWare decided that the only people that are a part of the community live in a mere 48 of the USA's states.

I mean the Warden's Quest event was not that long ago, and included teams made from all across the globe. In that case they did have control over it and consciously chose to include the entire world. That says a lot more than legal barriers on a single event.

Then the simple and correct way to respond is to not have this contest at all. The fact that they knew that two states in America and the rest of the world would not permit their contest because of laws but then decided to hold it anyway makes them just as culpable as the laws themselves.

Upon further investigation, I am in the "community", but it sure doesn't feel like it...

Seeing Florida get excluded from more and more "sweepstakes" and promotions lately. Wonder why since I haven't heard of any changes in Florida's laws about them, unless this falls under "the rules have to be posted 30 days in advance"...

*sighs* No, because the Warden's Quest event was held in London, all they had to worry about was finding people who could come over to London and were fans. So, the big deal there was a valid passport.

Again, Cat, what about the halloween sweepstakes, or the one with thing where they gave things away? Also during WQ people who tuned in could win stuff and I think that was all over the world as well. Just stop defending them.

Edit: Seeing the above post I agree that some poeple are taking this too far.

To all the folks who think we are hacked off at not being allowed to particiapte in the auctions. YOU ARE MISSING THE WHOLE POINT.
We are hacked off at a countdown timer that was flagged as an "epic community event", not a "mediocre marketing ploy for those in certain parts of the North American continent".
We are hacked off that "community" in EA-speak appears to mean citizens of 48 states.
I am hacked off that the epic event is a cheap con for the few, if it had been a smart, witty, panache filled con for all I still wouldn't have taken part but at least I'd have had a smile and a laugh about it!

Indeed. It's not unusual that competition-like "events" are limited to certain regions. That's fine. I just can't believe no one at EA's marketing department didn't realise that this would backfire so badly. It's so bad it still has me giggling like a teenager.

Edit: spelling

That sucks that a lot of the community can't be in this contest, and I'm an American myself.

Probably "meh", before he takes off his EA shirt and then snorts a line of coke off a prostitute that looks like an asari.

I currently have 2220 points. I will put all of my points and any give to me by people clicking

http://social.bioware.com/brc/277613

to win one of the laptops (M11x AlienWare Laptops). If I win it I will not keep it but will GIVE IT to someone who is not eligible due to their location.

For the record, my full and real name is David Nihsen and I live in Omaha, Nebraska. I don't want you guys to think I'm trying to pull a fast one or **** for points.

I think this is a crap move pulled on all those who don't live in the "correct" 48 states.

Not sure about the rules behind linking sites here because I don't come here that much, but if you Google ""dave nihsen" forum" you'll have my little home. I'm not trying to drive traffic there, but it's really the best place to reach me.

If I win it then someone outside the US (or in New York or Florida) will get it through a random drawing.

Again, I will not charge for anything including postage, shipping, whatever. And I'll ship it anywhere. Laugh at me if you want, participate if you want or just berate me verbally. But I'm putting my information out there to help out the COMMUNITY.

No.

They may not have handled this the best way they could have, but it's still awesome. There are lots of Europeans offering us well wishes while wishing they could participate as well. Everyone should follow that mature and positive example.
